Those who have followed the exploits of Frank Castle -- a.k.a., The Punisher -- in the Marvel comics know that he's good at two things: one, picking out a really cool, fear-inducing costume, and two, killing the crap outta people. After all, we're talking about a guy who's used everything from grenades to silverware to fat people as weapons to get his point across.
That said, Latino Review is reporting that Lionsgate will be pushing for tamer, PG-13 cut to be released of the film, leaving many in message board land with some choice words for the studio. As the article points out, it's clear that Lionsgate hopes to do with the kid-friendly rating what "The Dark Knight" managed to do, but fan reaction was the same across the board -- The Punisher is an R-rated wrecking machine that deserves the proper amount of over-the-top violence and gore in order to work.
This news come hot on the heels of recent reports that original Director Lexi Alexander -- who had fans eating out of the palm of her hand after promising a proper rendition of Marvel's resident anti-hero -- had been dismissed from the film without explanation from either her or the studio.
