This morning, Lionsgate released a new synopsis of Frank Miller's upcoming take on the classic comic book series, "The Spirit," updating the cast listing and clarifying exactly what the film's all about.
In synopsis 2.0, it's explained that "The Spirit" follows a rookie cop (Gabriel Macht) who seemingly returns from the dead in the hopes of stopping a criminal mastermind known as The Octopus (Samuel L. Jackson) from destroying Central City for his own devious purposes. It then goes into the cast of female characters which, "[surround] him at every turn."
Should one can only assume that Lionsgate heard the outcries of their target audience -- the fanboys -- after the latest trailer for "The Spirit" hit the internet and was quickly pulled after message boards flared up with claims that the film was more about the beautiful supporting cast than the hero of the film, as well as accusations that Miller was biting himself with the "Sin City" look of the movie? Or was this simply just a standard update?
Will this bit of damage control reinvigorate excitement for the film? Or do you think fans have already lost interest? Talk to us in the comments.
