Variety reports that Paramount Digital Entertainment is teaming with Singapore-based animation studio Omnitoons to produce a series of manga-influenced comic series for mobile phones. The studio plans on adapting the upcoming Shia LaBeouf thriller "Eagle Eye", as well as a series built around the "Mission: Impossible" franchise and a take on Gurinder Chadha's British teen film "Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging."
The studio says that the comics will be primarily used as a marketing tool for upcoming films, and will be available for download in multiple formats through cell phone carriers and other major content distributors.
According to the article, the resulting comics will be made available as single panel; comics, four screens per comic strips and short stories with more than 20 screens in each episode.
