While it might seem like an unlikely pairing, Variety reports that "You, Me and Dupree" directing duo Anthony and Joe Russo will be writing a grim graphic novel for Oni Press about a hostage negotiator navigating one of South America's most dangerous cities, as well as adapting the story for film.
According to the trade, "Ciudad" tells the tale of "a weary hostage extractor who travels to Paraguay's Ciudad del Este, a border town considered one of the world's most dangerous and corrupt locales, to save a kidnap victim."
Popular "Green Arrow" artist Ande Parks is teamed with the Russos for the print project, which is scheduled for a 2009 release from Oni. Paramount Pictures will produce the "Ciudad" film.
