The Hollywood Reporter has posted news that -- not all too surprisingly -- "The Dark Knight" has overtaken "The Polar Express" as the top first run box office draw for IMAX theaters, topping $55 million in ticket sales (completely eclipsing "Polar's" $45 million total), which adds to it juggernaut run of $925 million in total box office grosses.
Also in the "not surprisingly" category, IMAX chief Greg Foster said he would welcome any IMAX re-release of the Batman blockbuster in future years, should Warners see merit in such a plan. "That sounds like a really great idea," Foster said. "Ultimately, it's a decision that Warner Bros. has to make. We'd certainly support that," to which Warners said would be "a real possibility."
Did you see "The Dark Knight" on IMAX? What did you think of the experience, and would you go see more comic movies in that format? Let us know in the comments.
