Early last month we brought you the news that "Greatest American Hero" television series creator Stephen J. Cannell was working on a feature film based on the popular 1980s property, and that cameos for the series stars were also in the works. Now Cannell has made the news official, speaking about the project at panel at the Screen Actors Guild celebrating the show's 25th anniversary.
According to a post on Sci Fi Wire, Cannell said a screenplay has been written and a director has reportedly been attached (although still unconfirmed, said director looks to be Stephen Herek, best known for "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" and "Critters").
"I took a sneak peek at the [feature] script, and it's absolutely charming and wonderful," said William Katt, who played Ralph Hinkley in the original series. "I know people are going to love it."
News of a "GAH" feature film comes hot on the heels of a resurgence in popularity for the cult TV show, which will also make its way onto the internet and in an all-new comic book mini-series.
Okay, Greatest American Hero fans out there -- who's excited to see this? Any suggestions on casting? Talk to us in the comments.
