For those of you out there holding out hope for a third installment of "Fantastic Four," by now you've gotta slowly be coming to grips with the fact that the prospects look pretty bleak these days. Considering the comments made by director Alex Proyas about his frosty relationship with Fox, "Fantastic Four" actor Chris Evans basically saying that "Fantastic Four 3” would likely not happen, and given that Marvel's rumored future lineup of films doesn't mention anything about a new installment to the franchise, it ain't looking too promising, Fantastic Fans.
Now, it appears as though another one of Evans' "Fantastic Four" co-stars is throwing doubt to the wind about a third film. MTV News caught up with Michael Chiklis (who starred as the ever-lovin' Thing in both films) and asked him if he'd heard anything about possibly reprising his role, to which the actor responded, "No one's really given it the kibosh to me, but the silence has been deafening. The fact that no one's mentioned it or asked a question says that, more than likely, that's not going to happen. I know that both of them were tremendously successful from a box office standpoint, but we've all moved on into other areas and other films."
But while all this leads one to believe that a new "Fantastic Four" film is D.O.A., Chiklis does offer up one small ray of hope to outrageously optimistic fans. "I wouldn't go with Chris and put a port-mortem on it because you just never know," said Chiklis. "As long as a company has your signature in place and they have a right of first refusal, that right may be exercised."
Disappointed about the rumors that there's most likely not gonna be another "Fantastic Four" film? Or are you happy to see the franchise fade away? Leave a comment and let us know.
