With all of the hype that surrounded "The Dark Knight" this summer (and even as we enter Oscar season), you might've overlooked the fact that the Christian Bale and Heath Ledger flick wasn't the only "Batman" movie to come out in 2008. Yup, don't forget about the "Batman: Gotham Knight" DVD, which contained six, anime-style short stories featuring the Caped Crusader, written by some of the biggest names in both film and comics.
If you happened to miss out on grabbing a copy of the DVD, then mark your calendars for Saturday, October 4 at 9 p.m., as Cartoon Network has announced that they'll have the broadcast premiere of the animated feature. Described as the transition stories that bridge the gap between "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight," "Gotham Knight" tells the tale of Bruce Wayne/Batman's rise from back-alley vigilante to the dark, urban legend that strikes fear into the heart of Gotham's underworld, and is must-see viewing for anyone who considers themselves a Bat-fan.
We earlier posted an exclusive five-minute clip from the feature when it was initially announced, so if you want a taste of the groundbreaking film, check it out after the jump...
Have you seen "Gotham Knight" yet? What did you think of the stories and animation? let us know in the comments.
