There's been a lot of discussion regarding how close the film version of Mark Millar's "Kick-Ass" will come to its comics counterpart -- especially with regard to the level of violence in the series -- but a trio of photos leaked from the set of the film seem to indicate that the project is indeed staying close its roots.
SlashFilm has posted three photos from the set of the Matthew Vaughn film that seem to show a near-exact recreation of one of the opening scenes from the print series. In the print version of the scene, a costumed character with makeshift wings falls from the sky onto a vehicle, smashing the car's hood.
The SlashFilm reader who sent the photos offered up the following description of the scene he witnessed: "They seemed to be shooting the opening shots of the movie. The camera starts off facing the wrecked taxi and ends up on a close up of the license plate that reads ‘Kick-Ass’."
We've posted one of the images from the set after the jump, along with one of the panels from its comics counterpart.

Head over to SlashFilm for the rest of the set photos and similar panels from the comic.
How do these photos make you feel about the film version of "Kick-Ass?' Do you think Matthew Vaughn will be able to stay this faithful to the series throughout the film?
