With multiple feature films, licensed games, a television series and continuing adventures in the comics world, hasn't Robert E. Howard's best-selling barbarian, Conan, had enough time in the spotlight? Isn't it time for another barbarian to flex his muscles in the live-action world -- a barbarian like Sergio Aragonés' "Groo the Wanderer," perhaps?
Director Rian Johnson ("Brick", "The Brothers Bloom") offered up some thoughts on the subject when the long-running series popped up in conversation with MTV News -- but before the rumor mill starts spinning, that's only because "Groo" is the one comic he's read.
"This is humiliating to any true comic book fan, but the one comic I read growing up was 'Groo,'" Johnson told MTV News. "I collected 'Groo the Wanderer' [and] I still have some issues."
"We’ll see if I get approached for it," he laughed.
While Johnson was less than serious about wanting to bring Sergio Aragonés' barbarian to theaters, he told MTV he'd be proud to have his name circulate in connection with the character.
But what if, by chance, someone approached him with $20 million in backing for a "Groo" movie?
"Gather up $20 million and then we’ll see," he joked. "I can see the rumor on the Internet: 'Rian Johnson directing Groo!'"
"I’d be the happiest man in the world if that rumor spread," he added.
Well, consider the word officially "out there," Rian.
