Confirming an ambiguously worded post on Mark Millar's personal blog several weeks ago, Variety reports that the writer's six-issue "War Heroes" series for Image Comics is indeed headed to theaters, with Sony picking up the rights to the story.
The studio's Columbia Pictures imprint is now looking for a writer to adapt the series, which kicked off in June and had its second issue hit shelves September 17. Millar and the series' artist and co-creator Tony Harris will be executive producers on the project, along with Zach Schiff Abrams. "Ghost Rider" and "Blade II" producer Michael de Luca is set to produce "War Heroes."
Millar is quite the hot property these days, with a hit adaptation of at least one property he co-created under his belt ("Wanted") with sequels on the way, and another title in production ("Kick-Ass"). Millar's interpretation of many of Marvel's characters in the publisher's reimagined "Ultimate" line has also been cited as the primary inspiration for recent and upcoming Marvel Studios projects such as "Iron Man" and "The Avengers."
But does this mean we'll see an adaptation of "Trouble," another Millar-penned Marvel story? Probably not, but keep hope alive, readers.
Now that it's official, who would you want to see in a live-action "War Heroes"? And are there any other Mark Millar stories you'd like to see on the big screen?
