While it's not exactly "news" per se, an anonymously sourced report on IESB does seem to support what most comics and movie fans already suspected about several Warner Bros. film projects, and provided a bit of a debunking for a few recent, questionable rumors.
Keep in mind, however, that all of these statements are coming from a mysterious, unnamed source at the company -- so they're all suspect, no matter how much you want them to be true (or false)!
Earlier this week, reports surfaced that some pre-pre-production was commencing for a third film in Christopher Nolan's Batman franchise. According to IESB, an unnamed WB executive denied this rumor, stating that "another Batman film is not in pre-production and is not getting ready to shoot. Not at all."
According to IESB's anonymous source, "We were told this rumor is total BS and that Nolan just got back from vacation and while WB is keen (duh) to make a third film, there has been no immediate conversations with Nolan and that the rumor is totally bogus."
As for rumors that the live-action "Justice League" film might still have a future, the anonymous exec told IESB "they are not doing anything with 'Justice League']."
"The studio doesn't want to do JL just to do it," the source continued. "They want to make it when the time is right."
Despite the success of "Iron Man" and "The Dark Knight" in theaters, the status of a potential "Superman Returns" sequel (possibly titled "Man of Steel") was still uncertain, according to IESB's source.
Finally, in one bit of positive commentary, the mysterious Warner Bros. insider said that the "Green Lantern" film is indeed moving forward, with plans to start production in Spring 2009.
