In anticipation for tonight's animated series debut of "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" on Cartoon Network, Lucasfilm has unveiled a new series of weekly online comics over on the official Star Wars website that will lead into each new episode.
Over on the Digital Webbing Forums, "Clone Wars" webcomic artist Thomas Hodges delves into the project in more detail, saying that Lucasfilm approached him for the project and asked him to hire three more artists, choosing Katie Cook, Jeff Carlisle and Grant Gould. Furthermore, given that tonight's premiere will consist of two episodes, there are currently two original webcomics for fans to check out -- no memberships are needed, and readers can print out the book if they like.
While the theatrical release of "The Clone Wars" this summer was met with less-than-stellar reviews from both critics and even hardcore "Star Wars" fans, on the surface it was clearly a lead-in to the Cartoon Network series, which hopes to bridge the gaps between Episodes 3 and 4 of the original series and prequels.
Here's one of Hodges pages from the online comic, and be sure to tune in to Cartoon Network tonight at 9 p.m. for the series debut of "Star Wars: The Clone Wars."
