Marvel may own Manhattan in the comic book world, but when it comes to their movie arm, Manhattan Beach in sunny southern California is home sweet home.
According to a press release sent out by the film company, Marvel Studios has signed a long-term lease that will all but guarantee that its next four films -- "Iron Man 2," "The First Avenger: Captain America," "Thor," and "The Avengers" -- will be filmed at Raleigh Studios in Manhattan Beach, California. The move comes on the heels of an article posted back in July on Nikki Finke's Deadline Hollywood Daily blog, where "Iron Man" director Jon Favreau lobbied California governor Arnold "We're not going to refer to him as 'The Guvernator'" Schwarzenegger for Hollywood tax credits for filmmakers, assuring him that Marvel would commit big bucks and four feature films in exchange.
In addition to filming taking place at Raleigh Studios for the next batch of Marvel Studios films, the studio also plans to relocate its Beverly Hills-based executive and production offices to the site as well.
According to the press release, "Iron Man 2" is scheduled to hit theaters on May 7, 2010, "Thor" on July 16, 2010, "The First Avengers: Captain America" on May 6, 2011, and "The Avengers" on July 15, 2011.
