The one-two punch of Batman's utility belt and the cutesy world of Lego building blocks weren't enough to top the power of The Force in last month's videogame sales, according to a recent Variety report.
Approximately 1.5 million copies of LucasArts' "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed" were sold last month, compared to only 544,000 copies of "Lego Batman," but the article notes that "Lego Batman" only went on sale in the last week of the month. Warner Bros. purchased Traveler's Tales, the developer of the immensely popular "Lego" videogames, last year, and "Lego Batman" looks to be the the studio's biggest release of the year.
Meanwhile, Midway Games announced that it will be betting heavily on its upcoming "Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe" videogame, dropping all of its major licenses except for the DC characters used in "Mortal Kombat" and its TNA Wrestling license.
Previously, we brought you news about the long and troubled road that brought "Mortal Kombat" and the DC cast of comics characters together, as well as a peek at the Alex Ross art that will be appearing on "Kollectors Edition" games.
Have you played "Force Unleashed" or "Lego Batman"? Which one do YOU think is a better game? And what about Midway, Mortal Kombat and DC -- are you looking forward to "Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe"?
