The December 5 release for "Punisher: War Zone" is fast approaching, and that means we're seeing a lot more of the film and the new Frank Castle, Ray Stevenson, these days. Yesterday, we told you about the new "Punisher: War Zone" trailer that hit the grid, as well as some new updates to the film's official website. Last week, we got our first peek at a stitched-together Dominic West as the film's villain, Jigsaw. This time around, we have a new "Punisher: War Zone" featurette on Yahoo Movies, featuring an introduction by Stevenson and a few new clips from what looks to be a blood-soaked, big-screen reboot of the Marvel character.
The new video provides a quick peek at the pre-Punisher life of Frank Castle, and includes a few more scenes of Marvel's artillery-wielding vigilante doing what he does best: punishing. We also hear from actress Julie Benz and producer Gale Anne Hurd (who previously shared some details with MTV about "Incredible Hulk 2" and "The Avengers" films), as well as "Punisher: War Zone" director Lexi Alexander.
While the clips we've seen thus far are probably a poor judge of the film in its entirety, the push for an "R" rating seems to have paid off -- as there's no shortage of head-shots and bullet wounds in the clips we've seen thus far. But as we've mentioned in the past, that sort of environment seems like the perfect home for one of the most brutal of Marvel's mainstream characters. Heck, even Wolverine seems like a teddy bear compared to Punisher.
Oh, and with only a few weeks left before December 5, time is running out for you to get us one of those cool lenticular "Punisher: War Zone" posters, Lionsgate! (Shameless, we know -- but have you seen those posters?!)
Will The Punisher live up to his name this time around, or will this be another case of torture-by-popsicle for Frank Castle's fans? (Don't get that last line? Watch the 2004 "Punisher" and you'll understand it all.) Let us know what you think in the comments!
