Video games infiltrated Splash Page in a big way earlier this week, but movies found their way back into the spotlight. Some big projects took a step forward, while some lesser-known projects were attached to some big names. Here are some of the highlights:
- We began the week by taking a comics-savvy look at the recent release of the "Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe" video game, and even posted a video of all the "Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe" fatalities.
- Josh Brolin told us why he didn't think very highly of the "Jonah Hex" script... just as the directors announced they were leaving.
- A few high-profile projects received key players, as "The First Avenger: Captain America" teamed up with the "Chronicles of Narnia" writers and "X-Men: First Class" tagged "Gossip Girl" creator Josh Schwartz as screenwriter.
- Even the comics world couldn't avoid vampire madness, as Mike Mignola and Neil Gaiman explained why their kids can't get enough "Twilight."
- Grant Morrison told us about his game projects that never saw the light of day (not in the way he wrote them, at least) -- and the game pitch he's turning into a comic book.
- Comics-friendly producer Gale Anne Hurd optioned "Gearhead" for the big screen, and we brought you an interview with the creators of the graphic novel.
- Tim Blake Nelson said he'll be back for "Incredible Hulk 2" -- and be battling the Hulk as The Leader.
- We gave you a look at the new poster for "The Spirit," and spoke with August Burns Red about the use of their music in the holiday-themed "Spirit" trailer.
- Finally, we put "Superman Returns" director Bryan Singer on the spot about a potential sequel, while Frank Langella told us he'll reprise his role as Perry White if/when there is a sequel. Oh, and Christopher Reeves' son, Matthew, offered up some advice for whoever does make the next "Superman" movie.
So, there you have it, folks. See you next week!
