Every time things seem like they could be rolling along for Seth Rogen's film based on "The Green Hornet," the wheels seem to come off the project. Late last week, we brought you the news that actor/director Stephen Chow would no longer be directing the film (as was announced back in September).
"But wait," we told you, "there's still hope! After all, he's still planning to play Kato in the film, right?"
Well, now it looks like that might not be a sure thing, either. According to the Associated Press, Chow is trying to free up time to work on a mysterious "superhero comedy" with Jack Black -- and "Green Hornet" could be back-burnered in favor of the unnamed project.
"If I direct 'The Green Hornet,' the superhero comedy will have to be delayed for two years," Chow reportedly told the AP. "The timing might not be right for a superhero comedy in two years. And I want to make a movie based on an original idea."
While there's been no confirmation regarding the level of Chow's continued involvement (or lack thereof) in "Green Hornet," the actor/director told AP that his portrayal of Kato would depend on his schedule.
Currently, "The Green Hornet" is scheduled for a June 2010 release in theaters, and Rogen has teased that a preview of the film will be shown during the next Comic-Con in San Diego. However, we'll keep you posted as the story develops.
What do you think this means for "The Green Hornet"? How does this news affect your interest in the project? Let us know!
