Fans of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," consider yourself warned: big changes are afoot in the Slayer-verse, and MTV will play a role in them. With the release of issue #21 of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season Eight" this week, Dark Horse Comics promises a dramatic change of status quo in the "Buffy" universe -- and they've recruited a very notable series alum to usher in the next big thing in the never-ending battle 'tween vampires and slayers.
"Buffy" television series writer Jane Espenson (who also scripts another fan-favorite series you might've heard about, "Battlestar Galactica") joins the "Season Eight" team for the first chapter of "Harmonic Divergence," a storyline focusing on onetime Sunnydale High cheerleader and full-time vampire, Harmony. In her quest for fame and a spot among the celebrity elite, the blonde bloodsucker manages to find time in the spotlight courtesy of a new Reality TV series on MTV -- and creates a world in which vampires are "in" and slayers are yesterday's bad fad.
After the jump, check out a 5-page preview of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season Eight" #21, featuring a story by Espenson and art by Georges Jeanty. You can also get an exclusive sneak peek at the new tie-in story that will debut on MySpace Dark Horse Presents this week, featuring the intro to Harmony's Reality TV series, "Harmony Bites!"
