Announced this afternoon, "The Dark Knight" cinematographer Wally Pfister has been selected as a nominee by the American Society of Cinematographers for their annual Outstanding Achievement Award (his second nomination of his career) -- the winner of which will be announced on February 15. Meanwhile, the writers have spoken (or rather, the Writer's Guild of America has spoken) and named "The Dark Knight" as a nominee for Best Adapted Screenplay. The WGA winners will be announced on February 7.
This all comes hot on the heels of what has so far been a very successful awards season for "The Dark Knight," having garnered recognition from The Golden Globes, the Screen Actors Guild, the Producers Guild of America and the Grammys. Yet as big of achievements as those nominations are, fans continue to wait with baited breath to see if "The Dark Knight" will get the attention of the Academy Awards, the nominees of which are set to be announced on Thursday, January 22.
Of course, you can count on your friendly neighborhood Splash Page to keep you posted as the announcements break.
