In terms of "Iron Man 2" casting rumors, this month has been as crazy as one of Tony Stark's comics-infamous benders! Between reports that Mickey Rourke and Sam Rockwell could have roles in "Iron Man 2", coupled with yesterday's news that Samuel L. Jackson might not return as Nick Fury, there's been no shortage of news to keep fans of ol' Shellhead glued to the interwebs waiting for the latest reports.
Variety has more casting rumors today, and it seems that those rumors a few weeks back about Black Widow joining in on the "Iron Man 2" action were true, as Emily Blunt is now rumored to be the front runner for the role.
Blunt -- best known for her roles in such chick-flick fare as "The Devil Wears Prada" and "The Jane Austen Book Club" -- will next get her star turn in director Joe Johnston's remake of "The Wolf Man" (which stars Benicio del Toro). On a side note, it's worth noting that Jennifer Tilly told MTV back in November that Black Widow was the character she'd most like to bring to the big screen.
Marvel had no official comment as to the rumors that Blunt is in the running for Black Widow, a Soviet super-spy who would serve as a femme fatale for Stark in "Iron Man 2," but those curious about the part might want to check out our analysis of the three roles Mickey Rourke and Sam Rockwell have been rumored to play in the film, Crimson Dynamo, Whiplash/Blacklash and Justin Hammer, to see where Black Widow fits into the mix.
What do you think of this latest casting rumor? Do you think Blunt would be a good choice for Black Widow, or do you think there's another actress that Marvel should consider? We want to know your thoughts in the comments, folks!
