And the comic book movie casting news continues to flood the 'tubes this month, as HitFix drops the exclusive scoop that Kieran Culkin has signed on to star in the upcoming "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World" film, based on the acclaimed series of graphic novels by Bryan Lee O'Malley.
According to the news, Culkin will play the role of Wallace Wells, best bud and roommate of Scott Pilgrim (who will be played by Michael Cera). This comes after a months-long lull in reports from the "Scott Pilgrim" front, so the fact that casting is moving forward serves as good news for fans who are eagerly anticipating the graphic novel's jump to the silver screen. Edgar Wright ("Shaun of the Dead") is onboard to direct "Scott Pilgrim" and has promised to honor the source material with the film.
Joining Culkin and Cera in casting thus far is Mary Elizabeth Winstead (“Live Free or Die Hard”), who will play Ramona V. Flowers, the object of Pilgrim's affections, and likewise, the central figure of the flick (the story of which will tell of Pilgrim's quest to defeat the "Seven Evil Exes" to win his girl’s heart). As mentioned back in August of last year, filming on "Scott Pilgrim" was set to begin this month, but no word if that's still the plan.
Speak up, "Scott Pilgrim" fans -- are you happy to hear news on the adaptation? Do you think Culkin is a nice fit for this film? We want to hear from you in the comments!
