Brian Lee O'Malley's "Scott Pilgrim" books certainly aren't your typical comics -- blending dynamic rock 'n' roll with crazy fight action, all told in a unique, iconic art style -- so why would anyone think director Edgar Wright’s adaptation of the indie comic darling, "Scott Pilgrim vs. The World," would be a typical feature film?
According to an interview with Collider.com, recently-announced "Pilgrim" co-star Brandon Routh says fans looking forward to the film should expect just that -- a distinctive-looking flick that blends live-action with hand-drawn animation.
"It's a really interesting movie, people are gonna be shocked by this," Routh told Collider at the premiere of "Fanboys" in Beverly Hills. "It's a great mix of real people and drawn animation, and some really cool things that [Wright] is doing with it. It's gonna look awesome."
While Routh didn't go into details of what exactly would be animated in the film, speculation around the Internet points to the fight scenes between Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera) and the "Seven Evil Exes" (who will most likely include Routh's character, Todd Ingram) that take place throughout the comics (which are usually told in mad-cap fashion). In any case, here's hoping that some animation somehow finds it's way onto the web soon -- we've just gotta see this!
