We've been hearing quite a bit about DC's resident Emerald Avenger being bandied about the blogs lately, with all sources indicating that "Green Lantern" could be the next DC superhero to hit the big screen. And if today's report from Variety is to be believed, it looks like "Green Lantern" is getting that much closer to getting the green light (ba-dum-dum!).
According to Variety's story, it looks as though Martin Campbell ("Casino Royale") is currently in negotiations with Warner Bros. to helm "Green Lantern" (which is currently being written by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green), stating that the emergence of Campbell all but puts "Green Lantern" at the top of Warners' current slate of in-development films to hit the big screen next.
While fandom -- and more importantly, Warners' -- wait to hear from Christopher Nolan on a follow-up to 2008's box office titan, "The Dark Knight," the studio has been going full steam ahead with both "Green Lantern," and "Jonah Hex" (which reportedly has Josh Brolin attached to play the lead and "Horton Hears A Who" director Jimmy Heyward on to helm).
In any case, be sure to keep it locked to Splash Page for the latest developments on "Green Lantern" and all of the comic book flicks you wanna hear about!
Do you think Campbell would be a good choice for "Green Lantern?" Is there another director out there that you'd like to see take a crack at the character? Let's hear your thoughts in the comments.
