Live from New York, the "Saturday Night Live" duo of Bill Hader and Seth Meyers joined Sunday's Mondo Marvel at New York Comic Con to announce their upcoming Spider-Man one-shot issue, "The Short Halloween."
"First of all, I wanted to give credit to Bill for coming up with the title, 'The Short Halloween," said Meyers of the lampoon of Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale's "Batman: The Long Halloween" series.
"This is one of a few rooms where that would get a laugh."
With art by Kevin Maguire, the story follows the misadventures of a Spider-Man costumed partier who's unlucky enough to get nabbed by the real Spidey's foes on Halloween night.
"It is not the most serious Spider-Man comic you're ever going to read," joked Meyers.
The duo was originally contacted about coming up with an idea for a one-shot story during last year's Writers Guild of America strike, but the pitch didn't come to fruition until they got social with Joe Quesada, Marvel's editor-in-chief, at the publisher's Christmas party.
"We were walking [home] and I said 'I think we might've pitched [Quesada] a Spider-Man idea," said Hader, explaining, "Because we were tired kids, terribly tired and we needed to get home."
When asked about Easter eggs, Hader and Meyers said that while no SNL cast members will make an appearance, there will be a few things for fans to look out for.
"Because it takes place on Halloween and we have a very funny and talented artist I think there'll be some characters maybe dressed up for Halloween in the background," said Meyers.
