Ed Brubaker, the writer who killed Captain America, has released a new clip from his web-only series “Angel of Death." The new clip (which debuted on comics site ComicVine) is titled "Cleaning Up," and features main character Eve (played by Zoe Bell of “Death Proof”) advising viewers how best to clean up a dead body.

The 8-10 episode series follows Bell as a Mafia-hired assassin who suffers from a devastating injury and subsequently decides to kill everyone who ever hired her to murder for money. Creator Brubaker spoke with Splash Page about "Angel of Death" back in August, and if you've read his pulp-noir inspired series “Criminal” and “Incognito,” you know Brubaker is no stranger to hard-boiled stories. 'Batman'To fans of "Batman," writer Greg Rucka has become a name synonymous with the character. In addition to delivering some of the Bat-universe's most groundbreaking story arcs ("Batman: No Man's Land," "Bruce Wayne - Fugitive"), Rucka now handles writing duties on DC's Bat-friendly monthly "Detective Comics" series.

MTV caught up with DC's resident Bat-expert to get his two cents on 2008's box office champ, "The Dark Knight," and how he thinks Warner Bros. and director Christopher Nolan (if he decides to return) should tackle "Batman 3." Read More...

'Superman Returns'The next film in the "Superman" franchise could have the working title "Superman Unleashed" and be positioned as a sequel to “Superman Returns" and not a complete "Superman" movie revamp as had been previously thought.

Originally posted on the personal website of writer Alex Litel, the scoop was discovered on the official studio website of Legendary Pictures and presented the following summary of the film: “Ramping up the action of its esteemed predecessor, the sequel to ‘Superman Returns’ promises to raise the stakes and take the audience to heights of action that no other superhero movie can achieve.” Read More...

'The Dark Knight'Sunday's much-deserved posthumous Oscar for Heath Ledger's portrayal of The Joker in "The Dark Knight" was arguably one of the event's biggest victories for fans of comic book movies, but Ledger's performance wasn't the only recognition the Academy gave to "The Dark Knight" and other comic book movies at this year's ceremony. All told, however, the wins came few and far between for films based on comics.

Along with Ledger's "Best Actor in a Supporting Role" win, "The Dark Knight" also took home Oscar Gold in the "Sound Editing" category. The second most successful film of all time, "The Dark Knight" received nominations in six other categories, several of which also included nominations for "Hellboy II: The Golden Army," "Wanted" and "Iron Man." Here's a roundup of how the nominations and wins broke down for comic book movies at the 2009 Academy Awards: Read More...

With his role as The Joker in "The Dark Knight," Heath Ledger masterfully portrayed a dangerously unpredictable criminal, worthy of Batman's attention. However, his posthumous win at Sunday night's Academy Awards presentation for "Best Supporting Actor" was anything but "unpredictable."

The odds-on favorite to win the coveted statuette, comic book and film fans the world over cheered as Ledger's name was announced as the winner during Sunday's Oscar presentation, capping off what can only be described as an historic awards season for the actor, which includes top honors from The Golden Globes, the Screen Actors Guild and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. 'Wolverine'In just the first few minutes of this year's Oscars ceremony, host Hugh Jackman gave comics fans a lot to cheer about, stuffing his opening musical number with references to recent and upcoming comic book movies and calling out the Academy for leaving "The Dark Knight" out of this year's "Best Picture" nominations.

As Jackman sang and danced his way through the traditional montage of the year's celebrated films, a "Dark Knight"-themed prop was wheeled out in the middle of the skit, prompting the "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" star to wonder what it takes for a comic book movie to receive the coveted "Best Picture" nod. Later in the same musical number, Jackman sang about not having seen "The Reader" because he couldn't get through the crowds of people going to see "Iron Man" a second time.

But he wasn't done yet. Read More...

Chances are, if you're reading this post, that means you're not currently in front of a TV set watching the latest installment of MTV's "Spoilers," and are therefore not getting the latest news and behind-the-scenes goodness on your favorite upcoming flicks -- like "Watchmen," for example. But fret not, because your buddies at MTV Splash Page have got your hook up in regards to our much-hyped exclusive sneak-peek at a scene straight from the insanely-anticipated superhero film, set to hit theaters on March 6.

Here we get a look at Nite Owl (Patrick Wilson) and Silk Spectre II (Malin Akerman) taking care of business at a maximum security prison in the midst of a riot. For those of you who have been keeping score at home, chances are you'll recognize plenty of shots from the various "Watchmen" trailers seen so far, but clearly there ain't nothing like seeing it all in one complete scene. 'Watchmen'There's a "Watchmen"-savvy grand finale this week, as Saturday's special episode of "Spoilers" (airing on MTV at 8 PM EST) will debut new footage, interviews and behind-the-scenes peeks at Zack Snyder's much-anticipated, live-action adaptation, as well as first looks at “Star Trek,” “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,” “Land of the Lost” and “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.” But that's not how we started the week, is it?

- While much of the US was taking a Presidents Day break, we were getting our geek on and bringing you Toy Fair 2009 news from Manhattan -- and if you look closely, you might even find a few movie spoilers among the toys we showed you, too!

- We counted down the hours until "Spoilers" by giving you a peek at the must-see Q&A with the "Watchmen" director, and behind-the-scenes commentary from MTV News' Tim Kash (who embarked on a quest to find The Comedian's pin) and Kim Stolz (who did everything she could to avoid Dr. Manhattan's skyscraper).

- We even connected with one of the online world's geek elite, Wil Wheaton, who gave us his impressions of "Watchmen," while My Chemical Romance told us their "Watchmen"nstory.

- It was a particularly busy week for video, with two "Watchmen" TV spots and five new "Watchmen" clips, a trio of new "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" trailers, and an exclusive clip from the "Wonder Woman" animated feature.

- But "Watchmen" wasn't all we were talking about this week, as the last few days were filled with "Iron Man 2" casting troubles and our first peek at the cast of "Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World".

It was a busy one, but it only gets better this weekend! Be sure to tune in Saturday at 8 PM for MTV's "Spoilers" (and check back here on Splash Page after the show airs for all sorts of exclusive content) -- you'll be glad you did!

FROM NEWSROOM BLOG: It’s not every day that I talk to an A-list actor about his penis. In fact, it’s seldom that I even speak of penises. However, I welcomed the penis of Billy Crudup into my life with open arms last night (so to speak) as I stepped into the fan universe of “Watchmen,” the latest film directed by Zack Snyder.

When I arrived on set, I was overwhelmed by a slew of “Watchmen” costumes, shirts, masks (see: Rorschach) and other creative and/or frightening paraphernalia worn by the kids who came to see our exclusive screening of the film for a special "Watchmen"-themed episode of "Spoilers" airing Saturday at 8 PM EST.

So, about halfway through our taping, I welcomed Billy Crudup and Matthew Goode onstage, otherwise known to fans as Dr. Manhattan and Ozymandias.

With two weeks left before the movie's release, there are enough "Watchmen" video shorts careening around the Internet to fill at least a full DVD. Leading the way have been a series of vintage-tinted "Watchmen" TV news, "Watchmen" commercials, and "Watchmen" documentary clips that hearken back to the late days of US President Richard Nixon and early era of President Ronald Reagon. Now comes an homage to the great neon and brick-walled MTV countdowns of the 1980s -- in this case, 1983.

The "Veidt Music Network" anchor in the video runs through the superheroes featured in "Watchmen," counting down to a number one pick that is absolutely no surprise whatsoever -- it's Ozymandias, a.k.a. Adrian Veidt, the owner of VMD.

"He's the ultimate bachelor and international playboy, linked to Stevie, Sheena, and Madonna, regular at Studio 54 and best friends with Bowie and Jagger," explains the anchor. Read More...
