FROM MTV.COM: By now, everyone is probably aware that My Chemical Romance are fairly gigantic comic book fans.

But if the Eisner Award-winning series penned by frontman Gerard Way or the Halloween-themed Batman strip his brother Mikey wrote weren't proof enough of this, check out Gerard's train of thought for MCR's punked-up take on Bob Dylan's "Desolation Row," which closes out Zack Snyder's upcoming "Watchmen" film:

"We were on the Projekt Revolution [Tour], and I got a call on my phone. Somebody had put Zack through to me, and he was immediately excited. And so we started talking [about the song], and he said, 'Well, what are you thinking?' because originally he said 'Let's just have a 10-minute version that goes through the whole credits.' And I was originally cool with it," Way told MTV News. "But since the story [of 'Watchmen'] takes place in an alternate early '80s, I wanted to make the song a product of that era. And there's a lot of gangs in 'Watchmen,' there's a couple bands [mentioned], like Pale Horse, and you never know what those bands sound like, but I'm assuming it sounds like early '80s punk or late-'70s punk. ... And he said, 'That sounds perfect.' "

'Scott Pilgrim'"Shaun of the Dead" director Edgar Wright grabbed a major power-up when he stepped on to direct "Scott Pilgrim vs. the World." The original books were the talk of New York Comic Con this year, with the fifth "Scott Pilgrim" volume quickly entering stores and vacating shelves across the country shortly thereafter.

The big-screen adaptation's casting, which boasts Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Brandon Routh, Chris Evans, and Kieron Culkin, is stacked with names, but better yet, it has original creator Bryan Lee O'Malley's gold-coin punch of approval.

"I think the whole cast is amazing," O'Malley told MTV News. "Edgar Wright is a genius for casting. Everyone that they've got is pretty spot-on." Read More...

'Thor'A casting notice has popped up on the Internet for the lead role in Kenneth Branagh's live-action "Thor" movie, and it appears the producers are going young with the Marvel hero.

Over at Corona Coming Attractions they've posted the following call for a "Thor" lead:

"Male MUST BE MID-LATE 20'S and SIX FEET OR TALLER. LEAD.
Physically powerful, very handsome, occasionally egotistical, petulant, and wild. A natural warrior with a quick charming wit who must be genuinely and sever[e]ly humbled before becoming the compassionate, mature her of our film."

So, what does this mean for Marvel's Norse hero? Read More...

'Superman'About a week ago, message boards across the 'Net blew up over a rumor that those love-'em-or-hate-'em Wachowski Brothers were in talks to helm a three-part "Superman" revamp in addition to a long-rumored "Plastic Man" live-action flick.

Well, it looks like we've got some good news or bad news for you (depending on your personal thoughts on Los Bros. Wachowski). In a post over at SlashFilm.com today, "two independent sources" claim that Larry and Andy Wachowski were never offered a shot at a revamp of "Superman," adding, "the Wachowski Brothers have definitely never had any talks with DC or Warner Bros to helm a 'Superman' film. This is confirmed." Read More...

'Lost'Comic book writer turned occasional “Lost” maestro Brian K. Vaughan apparently exists within the hit series' universe now. The multi-talented comic book all-star behind the Vertigo series “Y: The Last Man” and “Ex Machina” has held such titles as producer, writer and executive story editor over the last few seasons, but this week, Hugo’s airport reading habits appear to have placed him firmly on the inside of the “Lost” universe.

On last night’s episode, titled “316,” Hugo was caught clearly reading a Spanish-language edition of “Y: The Last Man, Vol. 3: One Small Step” – or “Y, El Último Hombre” as it appeared on screen.

The comic book cameo was certainly a wink at Vaughan’s comic book fanbase, who cheered him on when he joined fellow comics scribe Jeph Loeb over at the “Lost” office for the show’s third season. But the plot of that particular volume of "Y" is worth keeping in mind, too. Read More...

'The Surrogates: Flesh and Bone'While we've been getting our daily allowances of ridiculously cool viral hype from upcoming films like "Watchmen" and "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," one of the movies we're most excited about has been sitting quietly in the corner -- namely, Disney's upcoming sci-fi thriller "Surrogates," based on the critically acclaimed graphic novel by creators Rob Venditti and Brett Weldele. Directed by Jonathan Mostow, the film features the star power of Bruce Willis and Ving Rhames -- no small "get" for an otherwise under-the-radar story.

And though sneak-peeks of Wolverine and eerie "Watchmen" websites are always great, what really gets us going are comic books -- and the good folks at Top Shelf Productions have given us just that with an exclusive 11-page preview of "The Surrogates: Flesh and Bone," which serves as a prequel to the original 2006 graphic novel. Mickey RourkePresumed Oscar lock Mickey Rourke sounds like he's waiting for some more green before he's ready to "bring it all" to "Iron Man 2." Originally speculated to be director Jon Favreau's pick to play Crimson Dynamo, then mentioned for the role of Whiplash, Rourke's casting as the former was denied by returning star Robert Downey Jr, who would neither confirm nor deny Rourke in the latter role.

But it now appears as though Rourke will pass on the film altogether. Put on the spot at Fashion Week in New York City, Rourke and his agent David Unger gave a crystal clear assessment of the "Wrestler" and "Sin City" star's casting status in Marvel Studios's rumor-magnet "Iron Man" sequel.

"Right now, we're not doing 'Iron Man 2,'" Rourke told New York Magazine. Read More...

'Conan'When last we heard from the "Conan" revamp camp, director Brett Ratner was adamantly dismissing rumors that he'd signed on to direct a "Conan" remake, saying the "Conan" news was premature and his next project would be "Beverly Hills Cop 4."

However, he's certainly not denying his desire to take on Cimmeria's resident berzerker in a big screen update. In fact, the director behind "X-Men: The Last Stand" already has ideas on how he'd handle casting.

"I believe it should be an unknown," Ratner hinted to MTV News. "Conan is kind of iconic. It's kind of like when you do Superman." Read More...

Chris Evans in 'Scott Pilgrim'More images from the Toronto set of “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” have appeared on director Edgar Wright's photoblog and MySpace page. This time, Chris Evans (“Fantastic Four”) poses with a sketch of his character, Lucas Lee, while a mystery actor peers out from behind a curtain with a "?" sketch.

Online speculation seems to peg rumored "Scott Pilgrim" cast member Jason Schwartzman as the mystery actor, since the rest of the film's cast members -- and the characters they're playing -- have already gone public.
