'Iron Man'"Iron Man 2" director Jon Favreau continues to be one of the most active and interesting Twitter users from the world of comic book filmmakers, with buzz-worthy updates and images popping up on a daily basis in his stream of posts. Today, Favreau reported that filming for the much-anticipated "Iron Man" sequel will begin on Monday, and the "last of cast has arrived in LA."

While it's nice to hear that the cameras are ready to roll on the film -- which has had its share of casting troubles over the last few months -- that's not the only interesting thing popping up in Favreau's assorted Twitterings. The director has also been giving subscribers a "Geek Tour" of his office lately, posting photos of various items from the production of "Iron Man" and other films that would make even the most hardened collectors swoon. 'Daredevil'Once upon a time, Ben Affleck was thrilled to play Daredevil, one of Marvel’s most complex superheroes. These days, the newly-rebirthed star of the political drama “State of Play” isn’t so eager to discuss his days spent in red latex.

“Uh, no,” he replied recently, shifting his energetic tempo to a methodical, disapproving downbeat when I mentioned the “D” word.

The exact question was a simple one: After the resounding success of such recent hits as “Iron Man” and “The Dark Knight,” does Ben watch those movies and think, "I want one more crack at the superhero thing, so I can do it that way?" Read more...

'Barack the Barbarian'The love affair between U.S. President Barack Obama and the comic book is still going strong, and it looks like we'll see the comics-friendly Commander-in-Chief making a cameo on a few more covers in the coming months. Chicago-based comics publisher Devil's Due announced a pair of projects today that will involve Obama-related storylines, and released promotional images for the comics featuring the US President and a very, well... unique take on former Republican Vice-Presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

Like the massively popular issue of "Amazing Spider-Man" #583 that hit its fifth printing last month, the comics feature Obama prominently on the cover -- but Devil's Due president Josh Blaylock said they'd offer a very unexpected take on the fist-bumping president. After the jump, check out all three images released for the new Obama comics, as well as details about the projects. Read more...

Leonardo DiCaprioThe upcoming film "Button Man" is not related in any way to "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" -- and, contrary to earlier reports, it's not related to Leonardo DiCaprio, either.

Entertainment Weekly is crying foul on Internet rumors that the "Body of Lies" actor would star in the "2000 A.D." comic property. The news site is reporting that Leo is not attached to "Button Man" according to studio representatives. The rumor originated from a listing in Production Weekly, a print magazine that provides information on Hollywood projects. Read more...

Paul BettanyFans who have been waiting for Tokyopop's "Priest" to hit the big screen have grown used to long news droughts regarding the adaptation. After all, last we heard from the production was back in December of '08, when it was announced that Scott Charles Stewart had taken over directorial duties from Andrew Douglass on the project.

Well, "Priest" fans, it looks like those months of no news may be coming to an end, as today, The Hollywood Reporter has announced that Paul Bettany is in negotiations to star in the film which is scheduled to hit theaters in January of next year. Likewise -- barring any unforeseen stalls in the negotiations -- the move would reunite Bettany with Stewart, having just finished work on 2010's "Legion," an upcoming supernatural thriller. 'The Strange Adventures of H.P. Lovecraft'Last week, we brought you the news that famed "Willow" and "Frost/Nixon" director Ron Howard had picked up the rights to bring the soon-to-be-published Image Comics series "The Strange Adventures of H.P. Lovecraft" to the big screen. As we mentioned in our post about the "Lovecraft" movie news, Howard seemed an odd choice to helm an adaptation of the dark, fictionalized tale of the acclaimed horror novelist -- so we reached out to "Lovecraft" writer/creator Mac Carter (who's also writing the screenplay for the film) and cover artist/producer Adam Byrne to get the scoop on the project.

During the interview, we discuss whether film plans predated the comic book series, the actor who helped shape the look of Lovecraft in the story, and what to expect when a generally family-friendly filmmaker like Howard tackles the indescribable horror of one of the genre's darkest minds. Image Comics has also provided an exclusive 5-page preview of "The Strange Adventures of H.P. Lovecraft" for Splash Page readers. Read more...

If you've been keeping up with "Dragonball Evolution" here at Splash Page, then you're well aware that -- judging by the reactions on our message boards -- the film has managed to find itself in the "love it or hate it" camp well before its (re-)scheduled April 10 release. That being said, Emmy Rossum (who plays Bulma In the flick) hopes that the legions of Dragonball fans out there will at least give the film a shot before writing it off sight unseen.

"It is called 'Dragonball Evolution' because it is an evolution of the series, and I think that when you're going from a comic to live-action things are going to change," Rossum explained in an exclusive chat with MTV News. "When you take it into 3D that way, it's just going to be a little different. but I think the core of what it it and the core of the story and the core of the characters is the same." Read more...

Leonardo DiCaprioDepending on who you ask, "Body of Lies" actor Leonardo DiCaprio has been pushing all the right buttons -- so much so that he's landed the leading role in "Button Man," a brand-new movie based on the comic book property of the same name.

According to Production Weekly, "Button Man" focuses on Harry Exton, an ex-mercenary that participates in a violent underground sport known as "the game." Exton is one of several killers -- appropriately called 'button men' -- that define victory by slaying their opponent or claiming the first two joints of their victim's finger. When Harry decides to retire from the sport, he learns the hard way that his own survival is anything but a game. Read more...

'Spider-Man'"Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark" isn't the first time everybody's favorite wall-crawler has tangoed with musical interference. Sam Raimi's "Spider-Man 3" took a substantial beating from moviegoers for its reliance on singing and dance numbers. But the fans aren't the only ones reeling from the most recent Spider-flick -- in anticipation of "Spider-Man 4," the director himself acknowledged his last Marvel film's flaws.

"They really gave me a tremendous amount of control on the first two films, actually," Raimi told British magazine Empire. "But then there were different opinions on the third film and I didn't really have creative control, so to speak." Read more...

'XXXombies'Back in February, I spoke to "Fear Agent" creator Rick Remender about his Radical Comics series "The Last Days of American Crime" and the movie-minded publisher's plans to bring the series to the big screen. This marked the second of the writer's projects tagged for adaptation after Rememnder teased last year that a "Fear Agent" film was also in the works -- but could there be a third? His porn-pushing zombie tale "XXXombies," perhaps?

"XXXombies screenplay is almost done," wrote Remender on his Twitter feed last week. "Rewriting the story so many times has [made] it rock solid but I'm really tired of looking at it."

So, given that tease, I contacted Remender to get the scoop on this mysterious "XXXombies" screenplay. Read more...
