Clearly, fans of DC Comics' resident Emerald Knight, Green Lantern, have had plenty to get excited about lately. First, it looks like a "Green Lantern" feature film is moving right along, with a targeted release date of December 17, 2010 and director Martin Campbell attached to helm (although an actor for the lead role has yet to be determined).
But since 2010 is seemingly light-years away, the fine folks over at Warner Home Video will be throwing GL fans a Kilowog-sized bone on July 28 with the latest addition to their acclaimed series of animated feature films, "Green Lantern: First Flight." The studio dropped the specs of the DVD and Blu-ray release at WonderCon over the weekend, and after the jump, we've got the lowdown on what GL geeks can expect from the sets.
Produced by Warner Premiere, DC Comics and Warner Bros. Animation, "Green Lantern: First Flight" finds Hal Jordan (voiced by "Law & Order: SVU" star Christopher Meloni) recruited to fight alongside the fabled Green Lantern Corps under the supervision of respected senior Lantern, Sinestro (Victor Garber of "Milk"). Jordan soon learns that Sinestro's intentions are anything but benevolent, and must race against the clock to stop his nefarious plans before they threaten the very fabric of the galaxy.
"Green Lantern: First Flight" will be available on DVD and Blu-ray as a 2 disc special edition, featuring two bonus featurettes, a digital copy download, as well as two episodes of 'Justice League Unlimited' hand-picked by "Green Lantern: First Flight" co-producer and animation legend, Bruce Timm.
