The cast of "Watchmen" are clearly loyal to DC properties, whether they're on the big or small screen. Just last week, we confirmed that Jeffrey Dean Morgan had signed on to star in big screen adaptation "The Losers." Now Jackie Earle Haley has elected to remain in the DC/Warner Bros family by costarring in Fox's upcoming series "Human Target," joining Chi McBride ("Pushing Daisies") and Mark Valley ("Fringe").
Based on a DC series, "Human Target" follows Christopher Chance (played by Valley), a freelance detective and private bodyguard who serves his clients in a unique and dangerous way -- he impersonates them, using himself as a target to draw out whoever is threatening the life of his client.
Serving as a target for threats and violence has put Chance in some really ugly situations in his short-lived series, especially when the character moved over to the gore-friendly Vertigo imprint.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Haley will play Chance's information gatherer, a guy who always has his ear to the ground. We're imagining the character as a kinder, gentler Rorschach for network television.
Simon West will direct the pilot, and McG's Wonderland is producing. We'll have to see if the series gets picked up by Fox, but for now it's fun to see our costumed adventurers sticking to the comic books. We here at the Splash Page have gotten rather attached to the "Watchmen" gang, and we want to keep reporting on them!
Splash Page fans, are you hoping for a dose of Haley every week? Were you ever a fan of DC's Christopher Chance, or would you prefer a superhero series be made for once?
