A few weeks back, we reported on an online casting call for the "Thor" movie in which Marvel had gone public with their search for an actor -- "mid-to-late 20's, six-feet or taller, powerful, handsome, occasionally egotistical" -- to take on the lead role in the film. Cut to today, and if a post on LatinoReview.com can be believed, that search may indeed be over.
According to los muchachos de LatinoReview, sources say that "Thor" director Kenneth Branagh was recently seen having lunch with actor Alexander Skarsgård -- known for his stand-out performances in HBO's "True Blood" and "Generation Kill" -- leading their scooper to believe that the two were in discussions regarding Marvel's Thunder God.
While LatinoReview are quick to point out that they receive tons of e-mails and tips like this, they did some of their own detective work and discovered that Branagh and Skarsgård were indeed at the restaurant mentioned by their source. Now, whether or not this was a business or casual lunch is unknown, but given Marvel's casting specifications -- coupled with the fact that Skarsgård is definitely an actor that's due for a breakout role -- this story could prove to be quite interesting in the coming weeks.
Do you think Alexander Skarsgård would make a good Thor? Or is there another actor you think would be better suited for the part? Let's hear your suggestions in the comments below.
