Nothing can keep the folks of "Jericho" down. Not a nuclear holocaust. Not living in a violent police state. Not even being canceled -- twice. In the spirit of Joss Whedon's "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" series (which continues at Dark Horse Comics), the CBS television series "Jericho" will relocate to comics, courtesy of Devil's Due Publishing.
"Jericho" follows the story of a small town in western Kansas as its residents adjust to life shattered by a nation-wide nuclear disaster and looming civil conflict. Picking up where its second, and final season left off, the comic will address questions left from the series' cliffhanger finale.
Though an official creative team hasn't been announced yet, DDP says fans needn't worry about authenticity. A number of the television show's original creative staff, including producers Dan Shotz and Jon Turteltaub, are working to develop the series.
"Jericho is alive and well, thanks to the amazing fans who've driven us to find new and fresh ways to tell the Jericho story," said Shotz in an official press release.
DDP is counting on these fans, which saved the series from cancellation after its first season, to continue to follow the franchise once it hits comic shops.
"I can't tell you how cool it is for DDP to be able to continue the Jericho story in comic book form," said DDP President Josh Blaylock, "We plan to give fans the story they've been craving. This is going to be epic stuff."
What do you think "Jericho" fans? Are comics a good medium for the former primetime drama?
