'X-Men Origins: Wolverine'Contributed by Josh Wigler

With "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" only months away from worldwide release, information about the new film has started clawing its way through the internet with berserker rage. Promotional images from the movie have given first glimpses of Gambit and Agent Zero, while other photos highlight characters such as Deadpool, played by Ryan Reynolds.

While promoting his latest flick “Adventureland,” Reynolds spoke to several news outlets about his work on “Wolverine.” According to the comedian-turned-action star, Reynolds is only playing Deadpool's alter ego Wade Wilson -- and not the masked anti-hero that comic fans have come to know. 'Superman/Batman: Public Enemies'For those of us who have been continuously blown away by Warner Premiere and DC Comics' line of animated, direct-to-DVD and Blu-ray features thus far, and likewise, have been waiting to hear what other classic tales the studio has in store for us post-"Green Lantern: First Flight," that wait is over.

It looks like Harry Knowles over at AICN got his "grubby hands" (his words, not ours!) on the scoop that "Superman/Batman: Public Enemies" will indeed be the followup to Green Lantern's feature film debut. After the jump, we've got the official logo for the flick as well as a synopsis, in case you missed the original Jeph Loeb/Ed McGuinness comic series. Read more...

'Iron Man'Contributed by Josh Wigler

The shifting of Marvel Studios’ upcoming film schedule might have affected release dates for “Thor,” “The First Avenger: Captain America” and “The Avengers,” but the highly anticipated superhero sequel “Iron Man 2” remains on track -- and in more ways than just the release date, according to director Jon Favreau.

Favreau was on hand at SXSW and spoke with Ain’t It Cool News about the alleged casting of Mickey Rourke as the "Iron Man 2" villain and Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow. While he wouldn’t confirm the news without Marvel’s official approval, the director certainly dropped some hints about the casting rumors. Read more...

'Spider-Man'Contributed by Rodrigo Perez

With the recent announcement of the "Spider-Man 4” release date (May 6, 2011), what once just seemed to be a great pie-in-the-sky idea that might never happen is now even more a tangible reality.

Director Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire are locked in, the story is being fleshed out and so fans are dying to know: where will the Peter Parker story take us next and what will be the villains that he has to face?

For those answers we'll have to keep waiting a little while longer. Raimi is keeping it all very close to the vest, but did reveal to us that the ideas and concepts are only looking forward to the fourth "Spider-Man" film and right now, a larger roadmap for the fifth film is not being charted out. He also said fans should expect to see the stories take place firmly within the Marvel Universe created by Stan Lee and not any inventions outside the familiar comic book storylines. Read more...

Mickey RourkeLast week was all about DC and "Watchmen," and this week started off much the same way -- but after a few big, mid-week casting announcements, it was all-Marvel for the remainder of the week's top headlines.

- The opening weekend for "Watchmen" looked good on both the movie- and book-selling sides of the deal, but there was some concern about the film's endurance after Week One.

- The biggest news of the week involved the "Iron Man 2" casting of Mickey Rourke and Scarlett Johansson -- which was immediately followed by Marvel reshuffling their movie schedule.

- We discovered that the "Scott Pilgrim" movie wasn't skimping on the music side of the project. Read more...

Jon FavreauContributed by Josh Wigler

With the announcement of Marvel Studios’ newly adjusted movie schedule, including a release date for Sony Pictures’ “Spider-Man 4,” some have wondered what the delays will mean for “Thor,” “The First Avenger: Captain America,” and “The Avengers.”

While there’s some speculation that the big-screen debut of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes was pushed back to compete with a sequel to “The Dark Knight,” an anonymous source tells Ain’tItCoolNews that the reasons are more a creative decision than a business one -- and that the move could be an attempt to get "Iron Man" director Jon Favreau behind the camera for the superhero team-up. Columbus ShortDC/Vertigo's revamped version of the Jack Kirby comic book classic "The Losers" added another cast member to its mounting arsenal of names this week. The Sylvain White-directed movie already has "Watchmen" star Jeffrey Dean Morgan and possibly "28 Weeks Later" actor Jeremy Renner. Now, Columbus Short has also announced that he'll be joining the film's misfit black ops team.

"Right now, it's slated to start in June," Short told BlackFilm.com. Short, who recently appeared as Little Walter in "Cadillac Records," said that he will be playing the role of the team's vehicle specialist, Pooch. Read more...

Patton OswaltContributed by Josh Wigler

Even though DC Comics is already guiding fans on the next step after watching the “Watchmen,” there’s some doom and gloom among those paying attention to the "Watchmen" opening weekend. “Watchmen” screenwriter David Hayter is so nervous about the film’s continued performance that he’s publicly urged fans to see it again this weekend.

Now, another geek-friendly face is urging comic book lovers to give the R-rated superhero epic a shot. On the MySpace blog of Patton Oswalt, the occasional comic book writer and star of “Ratatouille” makes it perfectly clear why he wants you to watch the “Watchmen.” Read more...

'Batman: Arkham Asylum'FROM NEWSROOM BLOG: Finally, with "Batman: Arkham Asylum," it looks like we may have our first-ever really great comic-book video game. And it’s about time!

We all know that the comic-books-to-movies game is a tricky one that is gotten wrong more often than right (”Catwoman,” “Daredevil,” “The Punisher”). Well, an even worse situation is the world of comic-books-to-video-games.

Whenever a comic-book movie hits theaters, the inevitable onslaught of action figures, lunchboxes, clothing, coffee mugs and computer games begins. Comic-book heroes are the perfect candidates to have great quality video-games made about them, and there’s an enormous array of great story lines, characters, weapons, gadgets, fighting styles and love interests to include in what should be awesome video games. But with the rush to get the games out in time to meet the movie release dates, the games are rarely as good as they could be (”Superman 64,” anyone?).

From Michael Keaton's illustrious debut as the Caped Crusader to George Clooney's well-intentioned but misguided romp in "Batman and Robin," there's always been one other character at play...the Batsuit. Now having appeared in six Batman films since 1989, Batman's wardrobe has evolved each time, with some changes better than others (nipples, anyone?).

For the full scoop on the ever-changing suit, check out the video below which appears on the "Batman Anthology" Blu-ray collective (it's out in stores now, and looks good).

What did you think about the video? Any favorite Batsuits over the years? Let us know in the comment section!
