First, we saw Wolverine get the fine art treatment with a series of variant covers based on classic works of art. Never one to be outdone, now it looks as though the Clown Prince of Crime -- The Joker -- has managed to one-up "the best there is" with his own gallery show.
"The Jokers Wild: A Visual Exploration of the Clown Prince of Darkness," which opens tonight at Philadelphia's Brave New Worlds Comics (an amazing store, I might add), finds local artists and designers from Philly's Autumn Society offering up unique takes on DC's laughing psychopath. After the jump, we've got a few of our favorites from the show, but if you want to see more, bounce on over to SlashFilm for the complete gallery.
Shown above are pieces by artists Drew Falchetta, Raymond Chase, Dave Perillo, Chogrin, Alex Eckman-Lawn and Anthony Pedro. As mentioned, "The Jokers Wild" debuts tonight with an all-ages opening reception from 6-9 p.m. at Brave New Worlds Comics in the Old City neighborhood of Philadelphia, and will run through April 30.
Would you like to see more of these types of events at your local comic shop? What did you think of the pieces? Let's hear some feedback in the comments.
