If there's one thing the characters in Bryan Lee O'Malley's "Scott Pilgrim" series like to do, it's rock out -- so it makes heaps of sense that director Edgar Wright would want his cast members well-versed in the appropriate skills. As we learned recently, they'll be recording with Radiohead and Beck producer Nigel Godrich, and in addition to growing his hair out, "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World" actor Mark Webber told MTV News the cast has been getting some training from a few other outside sources.
"You're going to really see me jamming out," Webber told MTV News. In the film, the "Broken Flowers" and "Whiteboyz" star will be playing the role of frontman in lead character Scott Pilgrim's band, "Sex Bob-Omb."
And if the rest of the cast's dedication to the film's action is on par with Webber's efforts with the musical elements, the books' much-discussed fight scenes could indeed be worthy of the source material.
"I've been going to guitar and singing lessons for the last three months every day," Webber said. "I've got to be a rock star. ... It's a really big deal for me."
Since O'Malley's "Scott Pilgrim" stories use a symphony of music, video game, and comic book tropes in their action sequences, fans are obviously anxious to see what Edgar Wright is able to conjure up on the screen. The idea of a star-stacked Sex Bob-Omb lineup jamming out "Final Fantasy"-style (as is the case in the comics) while Scott takes on his girlfriend Ramona Flowers' latest evil ex-boyfriend is an exciting prospect to imagine.
What elements of "Scott Pilgrim" and its unique fight scenes do want to see make it in to Edgar Wright's movie? Are there any Sex Bob-Omb songs from the books that you'd like to see them play? Sound off in the comment section below!
