Last week, we brought you the news that not only was an adaptation of the manga "Full Metal Panic!" on the way from Mandalay Pictures, but "High School Musical" star Zac Efron was attached to the project in some capacity. However, it looks like the Hollywood trade reports might have jumped the gun a bit.
In an exclusive interview with MTV News, Efron told MTV's Joshua Horowitz that it was still "very early" to discuss the project -- "to the point where it's more than likely not going to happen."
"That's usually the case," continued Efron. The actor did confirm, though, that he "had a meeting on something" related to the adaptation. So for those holding out hope for this one, it looks like there's something to take from the chat.
Pressed for more info on his tastes in comics and manga, Efron called himself "a huge comic book and manga fan," but said there were "far too many" to name a favorite.
"I've been reading them since I was 10 years old," he said.
The "High School Musical" star can be seen in the upcoming film "17 Again," which hits theaters this Friday, April 17.
