It's been a long time since we heard any news regarding Matthew Vaughn's live-action adaptation of "Kick-Ass," a violent comic book series by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. For a while, one of its young stars, Chloe Moretz, was keeping fans posted about production (and her experiences with co-star Nicolas Cage) on her personal website, but fresh information has been hard to come by over the last few months. However, we finally have our first, honest-to-goodness piece of news out of the "Kick-Ass" camp.
As promotion for their new issue, Empire has posted the first look at Moretz as pre-teen assassin Hit Girl, and provided the first peek at one half of the father-daughter vigilante team from the film.

Trained by her father (played by Cage) to be the ultimate assassin, Hit Girl offers a bloody solution to the city's criminal element, while slacker-turned-hero Dave Lizewski (played by Aaron Johnson) tries to fight crime in a style more in keeping with his comic book heroes.
Previously, we got a look at Johnson in his Kick-Ass costume, as well as co-star Christopher Mintz-Plasse in costume as another teenage vigilante, The Red Mist. While each of the actors' movie costumes seemed fairly similar to their comics counterparts, the schoolgirl outfit Moretz is sporting in the new photo certainly doesn't resemble her caped costume from the series. With so little news coming out of the project, it's uncertain whether this is the final design for her character's look, or if we just need to wait a little longer to see Hit Girl in costume.
"Kick-Ass" is scheduled to hit theaters later this year.
