Megan Fox has earned herself a good chunk of geek cred with starring roles in both "Transformers" films, but she's just now starting to cross over into the land of comic book cinema. The 22-year-old actress claims to have been a lifelong comic reader with a penchant for the late Michael Turner's artwork -- which is why her upcoming turn as the lead character in "Fathom" is nothing short of a dream come true.
"['Fathom' is] a comic book property by my favorite artist, Michael Turner," Fox told USA Weekend during a photo shoot with herself and soon-to-be "Green Hornet" star Seth Rogen. "It's about this underwater race of people, and it's plausible, really, because so much of the ocean is unexplored. We don't really know what's under there. It could be happening, which I like."
Before the young actress dives into the Aspen Comics property, she'll be seen in the DC Comics adaptation of "Jonah Hex," a Wild West shoot-'em-up starring Josh Brolin as the scarred ex-Confederate. Pictures of Fox on set have already emerged -- you can drop your jaws over here, folks -- and despite that uncomfortable looking corset, Fox seems genuinely psyched for the film.
"'Jonah Hex' [shooting soon] is adapted from a post-Civil War, apocalyptic-type graphic novel," Fox said about the film. "The main character is this real like bloody badass, and I play the love interest. It's a new take on the Westerns. It's not slow, and the suspense is totally different."
Fox certainly has her hands full, and it's no different for Seth Rogen, who shared time with her for the USA Weekend interview. The comedian is a self-described comic book geek, citing Wolverine and Punisher as favorite characters with Garth Ennis's "Preacher" being his favorite comic book of all time.
For now, it's "Green Hornet" that's caught Rogen's attention. While filming has yet to begun, Rogen has already started working on the project -- namely by trimming off a few pounds.
"We're about to shoot 'Green Hornet,' and the character is a vain kind of L.A. [jerk]," Rogen described of his recent weight loss. "[Physical] appearance would be important to that person. It's really whatever just makes the movies funnier. That being said, it's probably not healthy to eat nothing but cheeseburgers every day."
Which Megan Fox property are you more excited for, "Jonah Hex" or "Fathom"? Is Seth Rogen's "Green Hornet" gonna hit or miss? You tell us in the comments!
