When a batch of photos went online yesterday featuring Megan Fox on the set of "Jonah Hex," there was no shortage of commentary about the images flying around the 'Tubes. Whether it was the unbelievable corset that made her a living, breathing (and with some trouble, we have to assume) Barbie doll, or the distinct lack of much else in the way of clothes, the images of Fox had everyone talking about, well... everything except who she'll be playing in the film.
According to IMDB, Fox is tagged to play a character named Leila, but little else is known about her role. The synopsis for the film doesn't even mention a female lead, describing the "Jonah Hex" plot as follows: "In the Wild West, a scarred bounty hunter tracks a voodoo practitioner bent on liberating the South by raising an army of the undead." With all eyes on Hugh Jackman's upcoming "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" debut this week, it's easy to forget about one comic book icon that has already proved his weight in box office gold. Christian Bale, Jackman's co-star in "The Prestige," kicked clown-faced butt and accepted loads of moviegoers' hard-earned cash in last summer's "The Dark Knight" -- but does the on-screen Bruce Wayne have a third "Batman" left in him?
"It's got to be the right story," Bale told TotalFilm. "You can't make something like 'The Dark Knight' and then come out with something disappointing." Read more...

FROM MTV.COM: Wolverine is a rage-fueled, cranky mutant who prefers to work alone; Hugh Jackman couldn't possibly be more the opposite. On Monday, however, both could be found in Arizona riding a motorcycle into an action-packed "X-Men" moment.
"I've played this character for about nine years; I love the character," said Jackman, who arrived to the "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" world premiere with great fanfare while riding a motorcycle into action, just like his claw-bearing mutant does in the flick. "[I] wanted to show the movie first to the most passionate X-Men and Wolverine fans, so we put a competition out online, and Tempe, Arizona, won. And I'll tell you: These guys are passionate — they slept out two nights in a row [to get tickets]. Isn't it the coolest thing?"
To celebrate this weekend's opening of "Origins," Jackman devised a contest that had cities all across America creating Web sites and posting videos on YouTube. Tempe narrowly defeated Davis, California, and the festivities swept into a massive local shopping mall. A marching band kicked off the confetti-heavy event, the jovial mayor handed Jackman a placard that gave him lifetime parking privileges anywhere in the city, and a gaggle of giggling high school cheerleaders swarmed Ryan Reynolds for a photo.

"X-Men Origins: Wolverine" premiered last night in Tempe, but if you couldn't make the trip to Arizona (don't worry, I couldn't make it, either), you don't have long to wait for the much-anticipated movie to get its official, nationwide release. And even though this is supposed to be Logan's solo project, it's no secret that quite a few comics fans are looking at the film as a method for getting their other favorite mutants on the big screen.
Yes, for some of us, the slug-fest between Wolverine and Sabretooth is just the precursor to seeing Gambit, Deadpool and, well... even the mutant known as "Blob," I guess. Check out the clip below for a scene from "Wolverine" in which Logan takes on one of Marvel's most popular immovable forces:
Oh, and if you're looking to catch up with Marvel's mutants before this week's premiere, be sure to check out our list of Five Must-Read Wolverine Stories To Prepare You For "X-Men Origins: Wolverine!"
What did you think of Logan's battle with Blob? Think this is a pretty good representation of Blob on the big screen? Sound off in the comment section!

You'll be hard-pressed to find a comics fan out there who isn't looking forward to the inevitable throw-down between Wolverine and Sabretooth in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," but what many fans seem really excited about are the big-screen debuts of longtime Marvel favorites like Gambit and Deadpool. Even more anticipated than their debuts, however, is their potential for solo spin-off movies or cameos in future 'X-Men' films.
Recently, IESB spoke with longtime "X"-Producer Lauren Shuler Donner about this very topic -- and while she hinted that the studio is definitely thinking along those lines, IESB claims that the producer told fans not to expect any of the new mutants from "Wolverine" (especially Gambit) to show up in the recently-announced X-Men prequel, "X-Men: First Class." (Cue the sigh of relief from the comics continuity community.) Read more...

Alrighty.
So, the powers that be (Cheers, Rick!) have let me have a go at some blogging here. (You poor, poor people, little do you realize what a train wreck you are in for.)
I had wanted to talk about my intensive breeding program to raise a sentient race of Chinchillas, or perhaps my love of collecting preserved mammoth dung (I have the largest collection in the southern hemisphere) or even about the logistics of superhero sexual relationships, but alas, all were deemed a little, well... off.
So I'm going to talk about horror -- specifically, the nature of creating horror in comics and how I go about it. I mean, it's sort of what I'm known for. Read more...

As it is, Wolverine has enough on his plate with a brand new movie opening this weekend that's already seen an online security breach and closures due to Swine Flu. But just to prove that he really is the best at what he does, the metal-boned superhero has added some extra incentive to see "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" when it comes out this week.
According to various outlets, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" will feature multiple secret endings that run after the closing credits. The catch is that these Easter Egg endings will vary from print to print -- meaning you'll have to see the film multiple times in different theaters to view every ending. Read more...

Now that Deadpool has already teamed up with Wolverine, Sabretooth and Gambit, what other popular mutants might Wade Wilson go mouth-to-fist against in his own spin-off film? If Ryan Reynolds has his way, there are plenty of characters to choose from.
"There are all kinds of villains," Reynolds told MTV News during a "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" press event. "You've got Black Tom -- all kinds of characters that you could really make great use of." Read more...

While it's one of the more under-the-radar comic book adaptations headed our way this year, "Surrogates" is certainly worth keeping an eye on -- especially if director Jonathan Mostow is able to effectively translate the great source material for the film.
A science-fiction mystery set in a future world where people stay at home all day and send out robotic versions of themselves ("the "surrogates" of the title) to do just about everything, the adaptation of Rob Venditti and Brett Weldele's graphic novel stars Bruce Willis as a detective tasked with investigating the bizarre serial killings of these synthetic stand-ins. Disney has been extremely coy about the marketing for the film, with viral websites and publicity events providing the lion's share of promotion, and now we have a new poster that popped up on ScreenRant that continues that trend.
Instead of showing the stars of the film, the poster focuses on the surrogates and the fictional company and culture that's made them so popular. Check it out after the jump. Read more...

Hugh Jackman headlines "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" when it opens around the U.S. this week, but it's on the shoulders of Taylor Kitsch to convince Fox to bring Gambit back to the big screen.
The X-Men's resident thief and sharp-tongued Cajun has long been a fan favorite in comic books, and now Kitsch has high hopes for the character on film. He even has suggestions for where Fox could take the character in a "Gambit" solo film.
"I would love to go darker," Kitsch told MTV News. "[Gambit] in Vegas was fun, but I want to go into the Thieves Guild part of his story." Read more...
