'Spider-Man'Claws and controversy fill the list of top stories this week, but just like he always does in the comics world, Batman managed to climb to the top of the pile and reign supreme.

In our top story of the week, Harley Quinn made her debut in the "Batman: Arkham Asylum" video game -- and the villainous associate to the Joker made quite an entrance!

Bill Hader and Seth Meyers of "Saturday Night Live" are making their first foray into the comics world, and we gave you the first look at "Spider-Man: The Short Halloween," courtesy of Marvel Comics.

"Buffy the Vampire Slayer" alum James Marsters shared some frank thoughts about his experience writing comics in the "Buffy" universe -- prompting publisher Dark Horse Comics to offer their own, Joss Whedon-approved, side of the story.

But don't worry, there's much, much more! Read more...

'Hugh Jackman'Hugh Jackman booked Tempe, Arizona, into his travel plans this week when the city won its very own "Wolverine" premiere, which is set to take place on Monday. Amid all of the last-minute scenes from the film being released and lingering chatter about the leaked version of the film last month, Jackman sounds pretty content to travel down to California's neighboring state and hobnob with comics fans.

"They are very passionate," Jackman told AZCentral.com. "And they tell me exactly what they think -- what they like and what they don't like." Read more...

Evan Rachel WoodThe "Spider-Man" musical hasn't even opened, but is the dark already turned off for Evan Rachel Wood? In March, the young actress told MTV News that she'd completed a run-through for the upcoming "Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark," but then came word that casting was underway for the role of Mary Jane Watson, Spidey's love interest and Wood's alleged role in the musical.

MTV News tracked down the actress to shed some light on her uncertain status with "Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark." Apparently, while Wood has her sights set on playing Peter Parker's fire-haired girlfriend, it appears that nothing is set in stone.

"Nothing's definite yet, but that's the plan," Wood told MTV News when asked whether she'll play the role of Mary Jane. "I'm doing everything I can to make sure that happens. I think it's going to happen." Read more...

Joseph Gordon-LevittFROM MOVIES BLOG: Joseph Gordon-Levitt is already a successful young actor by any measure, but he's quickly on his way to becoming a household name. A role in a Christopher Nolan film can only help, and that's what the "G.I. Joe" star has landed. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gordon-Levitt has signed onto Nolan's top secret thriller, "Inception." The young up-and-comer has replaced James Franco, who dropped out of the running due to schedule conflicts.

The cast now includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Marion Cotillard, Ellen Page, Cillian Murphy, and Gordon-Levitt. The plot still remains under lock and key, but it's been previously reported that DiCaprio plays "a CEO-type" and that Gordon-Levitt will play his associate. Page plays a grad student who is somehow the CEO's sidekick, and Cotillard plays DiCaprio's wife.

It's been a day full of exclusive content, with your first look at IDW's new "Angel" cover featuring Drusilla, more footage from "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and now, courtesy of Viz Pictures and our pals over at MTV Iggy, the first 10 minutes of "Death Note: L, Change The World" -- the latest film based on the popular "Death Note" anime/manga series.

In case you're not up to speed with "Death Note," the saga chronicles the cat-and-mouse pursuit of a brilliant killer empowered by a "death god" to snuff out the lives of anyone whose name he knows -- and the bizarre, yet equally cunning figure tasked with bringing the murderer to justice.

"Death Note: L" is the third live-action film based on the series, following on the heels of prior films' tremendous success overseas and impressive box office tallies during limited release here in the U.S. MTV Iggy also a ton of images, interviews and assorted coverage of all things "Death Note" -- including a few images from the earlier "Death Note" films that I had to post after the jump. Wolverine's never had the greatest luck with ladies, but the same could probably be said for the women who get up close and personal with Marvel's massively popular mutant. In a brand new, exclusive clip from "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," we revisit Logan's little sleep disorder that almost resulted in Rogue getting skewered back in the first "X-Men" movie -- and why he might want to make adamantium mittens part of his sleeping attire.

So, while Logan (Hugh Jackman) and Kayla Silverfox (Lynn Collins) contemplate where they're going to get a new pair of sheets, here's a quick recap of how you can get caught up with the mutant (and his buddies, lovers and enemies) prior to "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" hitting theaters on May 1. Drusilla in 'Angel'The universe of Joss Whedon's "Angel" continues to roll along in comics form, and this July, the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" spin-off will see a pair of popular characters return in the pages of IDW Publishing's ongoing "Angel" series.

The publisher announced this week that fan-favorite "Angel: After the Fall" writer Brian Lynch will not only be returning to the "Angel" series for a story focusing on vampire hunter Charles Gunn, but he'll then co-write a two-part story focusing on the vampire Drusilla -- who will make her first appearance in IDW's corner of the Whedonverse. Fans of the television series should also take note, however, as Lynch will script that two-issue Drusilla arc alongside actress Juliet Landau, who played the character in both the "Buffy" and "Angel" television series.

But wait, there's more! IDW has also provided Splash Page with the exclusive first look at the cover of the August-shipping "Angel" #24, created by artist Franco Urru and the first of the two issues focusing on Drusilla. Read more...

FROM MTV.COM: Despite cold weather and long lines, hundreds of aspiring actors swept into Manhattan's famed Knitting Factory for the open casting call for the upcoming musical "Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark."

"Today we're looking for — it may sound cliché — but someone who's going to really pop," casting director Bernie Telsey told MTV News. "And what I mean by that is they're going to have the sort of voice that's just going to be so original and make you want to keep listening to."

The event was one of six held nationally by producers in hopes of filling the roles of hero Peter Parker, girlfriend Mary-Jane Watson and an unnamed female villain. Helmed by "Across the Universe" director Julie Taymor, the musical features lyrics and songs by U2's Bono and The Edge and will open on Broadway in 2010.

'30 Days of Night'"30 Days of Night," the 2007 film adapted from Steve Niles and Ben Templesmith's tale of vampires invading a secluded Alaskan town, will indeed have a sequel -- but it might not be headed for theaters.

WolverineAfter weeks of fierce internet battling and viral campaigning, the epic competition to win an "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" screening has ended. The dust has finally settled and the Top 10 cities have been whittled down to one -- and that lucky town is Tempe, Arizona.

Tempe narrowly edged out a pool of competitive cities from all across the nation, including Philadelphia, PA; Hastings, NE; and Austin, TX. In the end, it was Davis, California, that proved to be the Sabretooth to Tempe's Wolverine -- but as the two cities duked it out head-to-head, Hollywood's northerly neighbor found itself on the business end of Tempe's clawed fist.
