Kirsten DunstKirsten Dunst is apparently still up in the air about coming back to play Mary Jane Watson in "Spider-Man 4," and despite her excitement about starring in another sequel, new statements from director Sam Raimi indicate that she may need some persuading.

Raimi has Tobey Maguire locked to reprise his roll as Peter Parker, though, and it sounds like he's ready to make his case to Dunst as well -- an actress who he "can't imagine" making the film without.

"I'm hoping that she is going to come aboard, and I've got a meeting coming up with her," Raimi told Sci Fi Wire. "I think she would like to. But I don't want to speak on behalf of her." Read More...

FROM MTV.COM: Last we heard from Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf), he'd just helped his Transformer buddies save the world. Now, as the much-anticipated sequel picks up, all Witwicky wants is to quit being a hero for a while and become a regular college kid. This being a Michael Bay film, however, don't expect Witwicky's hopes for peace and quiet to last very long.

How exactly that tranquility will be interrupted — and what exactly will transpire as "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" gets going — is anything but clear at this point. Plot details are still very much under wraps. But two of the film's co-stars, Ramon Rodriguez and Isabel Lucas, gave MTV News some fresh insight into what we can expect when the film hits theaters June 24.

For more of our "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" preview, including video interviews with the cast, head over to MTV.com.

Andy WhitfieldNews out of the Devil's Due camp today -- the publisher has teamed up with the Starz channel to publish a comic book miniseries based on the network's upcoming series, "Spartacus: Blood and Sand."

In a statement made via press release, the series will be a "provocative, violent and sexy television series chronicling the life of the famous Ancient Roman gladiator and his rise to fame," starring Andy Whitfield (pictured here), John Hannah and Lucy Lawless. Meanwhile, on the comic side of things, "Spartacus" head writer Steven S. 'Wolverine'The May 1 release of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" is just around the corner, so that means there's going to be a mess of promotional material hitting the 'Net over the next week. Yesterday we showed you a montage of character profiles (in addition to the exclusive "Wolverine" profiles we debuted on MTV), and today we have the opening scene from one of the movie's big brawls.

The new clip is available over on Yahoo Movies, and features Logan and Victor Creed engaging in what looks to be a pretty vicious throw-down that, we assume, occurs after the fatal encounter between Creed and the love of Wolverine's life, Silver Fox. Read More...

'Pushing Daisies'"Pushing Daisies'" pie-making protagonist Ned isn't the only one with the power to bring the dead back to life. Series creator Bryan Fuller has resurrected ABC's canceled television series at DC Comics -- at least for twelve issues.

In an interview with E! Online, Fuller described the first new storyline as a fresh take on the zombie genre starring all of the characters from the show.

"It's basically Chuck, Ned, Emerson and Olive versus 1,000 corpses, so it becomes a zombie movie, but the zombies are articulate and smart and can do things that no other zombies can do. The Pie-Maker versus 1,000 corpses," said Fuller. Read More...

James Marsters[EDITOR'S NOTE: This post has been edited to correct several inaccuracies re: comic book projects' status and creative teams. "Spike and Dru" publisher Dark Horse Comics has also provided Splash Page with an official response to James Marsters comments. -RM]

Though its been off the airwaves for years (and this is back when TV had airwaves), the Buffyverse lives on today in comic book form. James Marsters, the "Dragonball Evolution" actor who played vampire villain-turned-hero Spike in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and "Angel," recently shared some thoughts with with MTV News about his experience working with “Buffy” comics and how he tries to keep up with his vampiric alter ego.

“I like what I see,” Marsters told MTV News of IDW’s "Angel" series.

With ongoing “Buffy” and “Angel” comics currently published by two separate companies (Dark Horse and IDW, respectively), the character of Spike is, at the moment, making all his appearances in the latter. But when both series were still on the air, Dark Horse controlled the complete Buffyverse and actually hired Marsters to co-write a one-shot comic book, “Spike and Dru,” an experience that the actor confessed wasn’t one of his favorite memories. 'Spider-Man: The Short Halloween'Back in February, we brought you the news of an upcoming collaboration between Marvel Comics and "Saturday Night Live" regulars Bill Hader and Seth Meyers, titled "Spider-Man: The Short Halloween." The single-issue story promised to take a tongue-in-cheek look at the misadventures of a costumed party-goer mistaken for the real wallcrawler and kidnapped by Spider-Man's foes.

Along with an original story by the comics-savvy "SNL" duo, "The Short Halloween" features art by Kevin Maguire -- the man who helped put the "funny" back in funnybooks during the late '80s alongside another comedic duo, "Justice League" writers Keith Giffen and J. M. DeMatteis.

To get the scoop on "The Short Halloween," I spoke to Marvel's go-to guy for all things webslinger, Spider-Man group editor Stephen Wacker. Read on for an exclusive, 10-page preview of "Spider-Man: The Short Halloween" (sans lettering), as well as all the details from our conversation about Marvel's upcoming "SNL" team-up. Read More...

Alexander SkarsgardEven though director Kenneth Branagh has another two years before Marvel's "Thor" film hits Midgard movie theaters, it feels like an eternity for fans waiting to hear casting news. Not long after potential Thunder God Channing Tatum revealed to MTV News that he wouldn't be playing the film's titular role as filmmakers sought a more Nordic-looking lead, it seems another actor might have been nixed as well. Despite his square chin and near-Asgardian surname, "Thor" Frontrunner and star of HBO's "True Blood," Alexander Skarsgård has indicated he may be out of the running.

When asked about reports that he'd be starring in the "Thor" film, Skarsgård told E Online, "No, I don't think so. I haven't gotten the call, so..." Read More...

Chris Evans'One more comic book film alumnus could be joining the big-screen adaptation of DC Comics/Vertigo's "The Losers." The latest rumor to strike the film's casting is that Chris Evans from "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World" and "Fantastic Four" could be accepting the role of Jensen -- the part that Jeremy Renner previously expressed interest in to MTV News.

According to an anonymous source for Mania.com, Evans is currently in negotiations for the role. If the rumor proves true, the actor would join "Watchmen" star Jeffrey Dean Morgan, who is tagged to lead the title military squad as the "Losers" leader Clay. Read More...
