Finally, after several months of hearing virtually nothing, the "Human Target" media machine is rolling full-steam ahead. The Mark Valley-starring pilot has officially been taken to television series, complete with a premiere date and even visual evidence of the leading actor -- and the news doesn't stop there.
There is now a lengthy trailer for "Human Target" that has debuted online, showing not only Mark Valley as Christopher Chance, but a plethora of other actors including Jackie Earle Haley and Chi McBride. The three-minute trailer offers an excellent glimpse into the action, acting and tone that "Human Target" is expected to have when it debuts in January of next year. (Check out the full trailer after the jump.)
The footage introduces us to Christopher Chance and his security firm that offers a unique form of protection: Chance himself assumes the role of a human target so that his protectorate will be safe from harm. In the pilot episode, Chance's client is the lovely Tricia Helfer, recognizable as the robotic Caprica Six on "Battlestar Galactica" and as the voice of Boodika in the upcoming "Green Lantern: First Flight."
In addition to Helfer and Valley, the footage also offers a first glimpse of actors Jackie Earle Haley and Chi McBride. While McBride looks pretty much the same as he always does, Haley is sporting a new hairdo that's markedly different from his gingerly locks as Rorschach in "Watchmen." Indeed, it's a far cry from his typically bald appearance, and an even further departure from his soon-to-be scarred visage as Freddy Krueger in "Nightmare on Elm Street."
Perhaps most importantly, however, is that the footage offers some insight into both the show's action pieces and the actors' performances. Valley in particular shows his acting chops during a notable scene spoken entirely in Japanese. A series like "Human Target" will rely heavily on its central character -- based on the footage here, Valley isn't going to disappoint.
