Earlier this month, I told you about the debut of one of my favorite ridiculous Batman villains, Crazy Quilt, on Cartoon Network's "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" animated series. Well, the creators of the series have managed to venture even further into the bizarre reaches of the Dark Knight's cast of supporting characters with this week's episode.
In a story titled "Legends of the Dark Mite," Batman will face one of the greatest (in my humble opinion) Bat-characters in the history of the Bat-universe: Bat-Mite.
An imp from the 5th Dimension (much like Superman villain Mister Mxyzptlk), Bat-Mite kidnaps his caped hero during the upcoming episode, bringing Batman back to the imp's uber-trippy home dimension for a series of surreal adventures through the wackier side of the hero's history. And as if that wasn't enough to pique your interest, the episode was scripted by "Lost" writer Paul Dini, and features a Bat-Mite voiced by... wait for it... Paul "Pee Wee Herman" Reubens.
Brilliant, right?
Batman-On-Film has posted a bunch of images from the episode, as well as a trio of video clips that seem to indicate that everything you hoped for with this episode is probably true. For example, check out the following scene:
Feels an awful lot like Grant Morrison's idea of a Saturday morning cartoon, doesn't it?
"Legends of The Dark Mite" airs this Friday, May 29, on Cartoon Network.
What do you think of the Bat-Mite's debut on "Batman: The Brave and the Bold"? Want to see more of the imp? What about other obscure characters?
