If you were missing William Shatner in J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek," it looks like you'll be able to make up for it in the coming months with "Tek War Chronicles," the new comic book series based on Shatner's best-selling "TekWar" science-fiction novels.
Written by Shatner and Scott Davis, "Tek War" tells the story of a man who returns to his futuristic world after serving four years of cryogenic stasis for a crime he didn't commit. "Tek War" publisher Bluewater Productions, whose "Political Power: Barack Obama" and "Puppy Power: Bo Obama" comics were recently featured on Splash Page, has provided us with the first look at "Tek War Chronicles" #1, which hits shelves near the end of June.

Bluewater's "Tek War" comics are far from the only multimedia spin-off for Shatner's popular sci-fi series. Along with an earlier comic book adaptation, there's been a "TekWar" television series., movie and even a set of trading cards based on the franchise. According to Space.com, Shatner began writing the series during the filming of "Star Trek V: The Final Frontier."
Here's the official synopsis for Bluewater's "Tek War Chronicles":
"After spending 4 years in cryogenic stasis for crimes he is certain he did not commit, Jake Cardigan is mysteriously released. Finding himself lost in a world that has changed since his incarceration, Jake tries and put his life back together. His wife and son are gone, or in hiding, and Jake; fights the strong urge to self-medicate using a digital drug called Tek. Offered a job to locate a missing enigmatic scientist, Jake can already feel the puppet strings manipulating him to return to the life that got him jailed in the first place.
