'Lost'Season Five of "Lost" went out with a bang (or lack thereof) last night, leaving many fans wondering where they're going to get their fix of Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Locke and the rest of the mysterious island's inhabitants between now and the 2010 season. With a cast and filmmakers that have never shied away from projects close to comics fans' hearts (and in the case of Brian K. Vaughan, began their careers in comics), the series has carved out a niche for itself in the geek scene that will be sorely missed in the months until its sixth (and final) season kicks off.

But fear not, folks. Here's a breakdown of some other places you can find your favorite people from the island in and around the world of comics-related fare, from starring roles to blink-and-you-miss-it cameos. Read More...

'Spider-Man'The Sam Raimi-directed "Spider-Man 4" is years away from hitting theaters, but production is already scouting locations for the friendly neighborhood sequel. Interestingly enough, Peter Parker might be trading in his Daily Bugle gig for something decidedly more European.

According to Irish newspaper The Dundalk Democrat, "Spider-Man 4" will film a small portion of the movie in Dundalk, Ireland. A somewhat sketchy article in the paper indicates that director Raimi has his sights set on the Irish town's massive wind turbine for the titular superhero to scale. Read More...

By now you know that Seth Rogen has a film adaptation of "Green Hornet" in the works with director Michel Gondry, but what you might not know is that comics writer and filmmaker Kevin Smith was once attached to write and direct an adaptation of that very same character. While Smith's film never got off the ground, he's getting a second crack at the masked crime-fighter in an upcoming comic book series for Dynamite Entertainment.

We got the details from the veteran creator when he dropped by Splash Page HQ this week, and along with telling us why his upcoming "Batman: The Widening Gyre" series for DC could be his last Batman story ever, Smith explained why he had lots of opportunities to discuss "Green Hornet" with Rogen, but avoided the subject entirely.

According to Smith, he initially turned down the "Green Hornet" series due to his past problems launching the film, and told Dynamite publisher Nick Barrucci, "I've been down the 'Hornet' road and it never works out for me." Read More...

The Leading ManThe world's greatest actor may soon become the world's greatest spy -- at least if writer B. Clay Moore and artist Jeremy Haun have their way. Oni Press' "The Leading Man" is currently in the pipeline at Universal, and while there's still plenty that needs to happen before the cameras roll, given Oni's relative Hollywood renaissance of late with Bryan Lee O'Malley's "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World" and Greg Rucka's "Whiteout," the odds for adaptation could look a whole lot worse -- especially considering how quickly Moore's "Billy Smoke" is currently climbing the ranks in Tinsel Town.

"Universal renewed ['The Leading Man'] option last year, and there is talent being recruited as we speak," Moore told MTV News. "Universal has kept a lid on some of the details, but things look promising as of now. Obviously, you never know how things are going to pan out, but the process is at least headed forward." Between comics, movies and his upcoming show at Carnegie Hall, Kevin Smith has a lot going on these days. So, when he dropped by Splash Page HQ this week, our conversation with the veteran creator covered a wide spectrum of topics -- everything from his willingness to see "Star Trek" actor Chris Pine romancing his wife to some just-announced comics projects that readers will definitely want to add to their pull lists.

After completing a successful run on the three-issue miniseries "Batman: Cacophony," Smith is returning to Gotham City with his good friend and artist Walt Flanagan for a 12-issue series titled "Batman: The Widening Gyre." He told MTV News he'll introduce a new hero to the DC Universe (much as he did with the villain Onomatopoeia in his "Green Arrow" run), and then will follow up the 12-part story with an ongoing series starring the new character.

While he didn't want to spoil the surprise by sharing any details about the new character ("We don't introduce him until issue #2," said Smith), he did offer up some thoughts about the tone and origin of the series, and why this could be the last Batman story he'll ever write. Read More...

Christian BaleAsk Christian Bale about the next “Batman” movie, and these days he offers a standard eight-word reply -- and occasionally, two extra vowels to show his sincerity.

“Believe me, I have nothing to tell you,” Bale told MTV News when we spoke over the weekend. “Truly.”

Such words won’t thrill the millions of moviegoers who’ve powered the Dark Knight to the top of our recent Superhero Power Rankings list -- but dig a bit deeper and there might be some good news for those who fear that director Christopher Nolan could be finished with the franchise. Read More...

'City of Dust'Last year, Radical Publishing announced a financing plan to speed many of their comic books to feature films. "30 Days of Night" creator Steve Niles' "City of Dust" was on on that list, and as the writer explains, not only are the gears still in motion to produce a screenplay, but Niles' comics might also produce a spin-off series of novels, too.

"I don’t know if you’re aware of the '30 Days of Night' novels we did for Pocket Books, but we’ve done three novels and had tremendous success with them -- so I suggested doing the same thing for Phillip Khrome and 'City of Dust,'" Niles told MTV News. Read More...

'He-Man' has a screenwriterFROM MOVIES BLOG: By the power of Grayskull, we have a screenwriter! The long-gestating "He-Man" film adaptation -- which will be titled "Grayskull" based on He-Man's own fortress -- has recruited a scribe to write the newest draft of the screenplay.

Just as the unimpressive Prince Adam transforms into the herculean He-Man, so too will newcomer Evan Daugherty rise from anonymity to pen the latest draft of "Grayskull" for Warner Bros. and Silver Pictures, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Daugherty will work off of a previous draft written by "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li" screenwriter Justin Marks.

FROM MTV.COM: Until this weekend, not many among the moviegoing public knew the name Chris Pine, unless you happened to be a fan of films like "The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement" or the Lindsay Lohan rom-com clunker "Just My Luck." But his turn as young James T. Kirk in J.J. Abrams' "Star Trek" reboot looks to be a star-making move.

And it's not just audiences and critics who are raving about Pine's Kirk and favorably comparing his portrayal to that of original Kirk, William Shatner; Hollywood is taking notice too. Count director Kevin Smith among Pine's growing legion of fans.

"I think what makes that movie work chiefly — aside from, of course, the talents who all came together behind it — is Chris Pine," Smith said when he stopped by the MTV News offices. "That dude is astounding. To be able to invoke Kirk without doing a Shatner impression? That performance was so electric and so wonderful to watch.

'Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World'Thus far, production of "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World" has been incredibly well documented with behind-the-scenes photos that blend elements of reality and illustration. But as enjoyably creative as the obscured images are, fans are starting to jones for a better look at the project.

Seems that director Edgar Wright got the memo, as he posted three new pictures from the upcoming Oni Press adaptation on his website yesterday. The photos reveal our first clear look at Scott's musical rivals, the deadly Clash at Demonhead, as merchandising for their newest album hits record stores in the film. Read More...
