Cancel your plans, pick up some popcorn and keep your delivery menus handy, folks -- it's a "Star Wars" marathon this weekend on MTV.

Sure, everyone's talking about "Star Trek" these days, but long ago, in a galaxy far, far away there was a trio of movies that rocked the world to its very core... and then there was "Episode IV-VI," too. (I kid, I kid.) This weekend, MTV is screening all six "Star Wars" films, kicking off with "Episode I: The Phantom Menace" on Saturday at 5 PM -- with a special showing of "Behind The Screen," MTV's specialmovie exclusive extravaganza, on Sunday night.

Yeah, no need to change out of your pajamas for the next couple of days, eh? After the jump, check out the full programming schedule for the "Star Wars" marathon weekend: Read More...

Alan MooreNot so fast, Faith No More fans. Yesterday, we reported on the announcement that "Watchmen" writer Alan Moore would be partnering with Faith No More singer Mike Patton on an upcoming multimedia project for Lex Records. We've now been informed by the U.K. label that, while Moore is indeed involved in a multi-faceted project titled "Unearthing" with a variety of artists, Patton isn't among those artists.

According to Lex Records, Patton had been approached about the project by collaborators Adam Drucker ("Doseone") and Andrew Broder ("Fog"), but the initial report indicating that that he had joined the project was in error. Read More...

'Barack Obama' ComicWolverine has been the go-to guy for years when it comes to magazines or comic book series that want a quick sales boost. Put him on the cover, and issues are practically guaranteed to fly off the shelves. These days, though, U.S. President Barack Obama is giving Logan a run for his money when it comes to selling comics.

This August, Bluewater Productions will publish "Political Power: Barack Obama," one of several comics featuring notable figures from recent US elections. Along with the Obama comic, Bluewater also has comics in the works featuring Michelle Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton and, well... even the Obama's dog, Bo.

And it's that last comic, "Puppy Power: Bo Obama," that prompted one of the funnier exchanges I've ever had with an interview subject -- in this case, "Barack Obama" author Chris Ward. Read More...

Airbender"Unbreakable" director M. Night Shyamalan has long declared his plans to make a movie version of "Avatar: The Last Airbender," the beloved animated series, but it's only recently that the filmmaker has actually taken his shot at the franchise.

But for those who doubted that the project would ever get off the ground, doubt no more -- USA Today has posted images from "The Last Airbender," the first film in a planned trilogy. The paper revealed two images from the movie, depicting the main character Aang and his arch-rival Prince Zuko (played by "Slumdog Millionaire" star Dev Patel). Read More...

Bazooka JoeSometimes, you get the impression that Hollywood executives aren't quite sure what comic books really are, or what is spurring the whole comic adaptation craze. But they know they want in on it, so they adapt anything with a brightly colored panel... and maybe that's why we're getting a movie based on "Bazooka Joe."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael Eisner and his Tornante Company have hired newcomer Mark Hammer (who is actually graduating college this very week) to pen a big-screen adaptation of "Bazooka Joe," the simple little strip created in the 1950s solely to sell gum. Read More...

Terminator: SalvationWhile "Terminator: Salvation" does its best to win summer box office records this weekend, the official prequel story to the movie will be premiering on the iPhone's App Store. IDW's 5-issue miniseries by writer Dara Naraghi ("Lifelike") and artist Alan Robinson follows in the shelf space of many Terminator comics that have come before it, but it will also join a smaller club of comics, including Dark Horse Comics' "Terminator: Death Valley" miniseries available on iPhone and iPod Touch.

"Consumers want to extend the print experience to their handheld media devices and the iPhone and iPod touch are ideal platforms for delivering rich, immersive, visual experiences," said Warner Bros. Digital Distribution President Thomas Gewecke in the press release announcing the comics' move to the mobile platform. "We expect the 'Terminator: Salvation' prequel to be the first of many digital comic releases over the coming year." Read More...

SurrogatesComic book cinema in the upcoming summer season is fairly scarce, but we're only a few short months removed from one of the graphic novel adaptations we're most looking forward to around Splash Page HQ. We're talking, of course, about the adaptation of Top Shelf's "Surrogates."

The Bruce Willis-starring film, which focuses on a futuristic Earth where human beings live through robotic surrogates of themselves in order to avoid death, has released an all-new full-length trailer. The footage is over two minutes long and shows some surprisingly spoiler-heavy scenes from the movie -- it even reveals that Willis has hair! Read More...

DeathlokEver since Arnold Schwarzenegger's metal skeleton revealed itself in the first "Terminator" movie, fans have loved matching up different characters against Skynet's famous robotic killers. In the comics world, there are plenty of artificial life forms that hold their own against the most powerful super-powered villains -- but what would happen if they took on the film world's favorite unstoppable, mechanical assassin?

With "Terminator: Salvation" blasting into theaters this week, here's a list of seven mechanical comic book heroes we wouldn’t mind seeing square off against a Terminator. Read More...

Scott Pilgrim Vs The WorldEdgar Wright's live-action adaption of "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World" will have Ramona Flowers' "+2 Against Girls" Hammer, Scott's band Sex Bob-Omb, and even their rivals The Clash at Demonhead, but the film will part ways with creator Bryan Lee O'Malley's original comics scripts for its ending. With "Scott Pilgrim Volume 5: Scott Pilgrim vs The Universe" still relatively new to shelves this year, no one but O'Malley knows what lies in store for his cast in Volume 6 of his Oni Press series -- and according to him, the film won't introduce spoilers from the climactic volume of his readers.

"None of Vol. 6 is in the movie," O'Malley said today on his Twitter feed. "Note that I haven't finished writing it yet, but they're already making a movie. Their ending is their ending." Read More...

Yesterday, I gave you a very long-winded (and exceptionally paranoid) explanation of why I'm quite sure Will Ferrell is trying to steal my identity -- and offered up an outtake from this weekend's "Behind the Screen" movies show on MTV (airing Sunday at 11 PM EST) as proof that he's gunning to be the #1 "Rick Marshall." Today, I have another outtake from MTV's interview with Ferrell and his "Land of the Lost" co-star Danny McBride -- but this teaser comes with 100-percent less paranoia, I promise.

While there's not much connection to the comics world here, it's Will Ferrell -- so it's good for a laugh. Given the subject matter of the clip, it also provides a nice opportunity to remind you that you can follow Splash Page updates on Twitter for all of your comics and comic book movie news. Subscribers to Splash Page on Twitter generally receive the first word on new posts and content -- well before it hits our RSS feed (and occasionally before it even shows up on the front page).
