Green LanternNot only does "Green Lantern" director Martin Campbell's wife, Sol Romero, have an inside track on the plot of the much-anticipated live-action film, she also has a mysterious role in the movie, too. And while she can't say much about the production, she did offer up some thoughts recently about the scope of the Emerald Knight's big-screen debut.

"I personally think the movie is going to be bigger than any other comic movies, like 'Spider-Man,'" Romero told SCI FI Wire. "There is really going to be a lot of action and entertainment [in 'Green Lantern.']" Read More...

Alan MooreBearded comics mega-star Alan Moore has an all-new recording project on the way as part of a new collaboration with spoken word artist Adam Drucker and Faith No More Singer Mike Patton, among others. The "Watchmen" and "V for Vendetta" writer, who is no stranger to the recording arts, laid down two hours of the same vocal talents he used to interpret Rorschach on last year's "The Mindscape of Alan Moore" DVD. This time, however, the project will be part of a partnership with U.K. label Lex Records and a list of other creators.

"It's the first volume of a series and it is definitely in the direction of an autobiography," Lex Records founder Tom Brown told Billboard. The multimedia project, including a photographic novel, Moore's two-hour audio book, and work by other recording artists is tentatively titled "Unearthing" and slated for a 2010 release date. DeadpoolFROM MULTIPLAYER: First things first: as the Editor of MTV's comics and movie blog, Splash Page, I'm a comics guy first, gamer second -- but it's a close second. So it was with no small amount of joy that I received these peeks at Deadpool and Juggernaut in "Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2: Fusion."

We've been covering the heck out of Marvel's "Merc With the Mouth" on Splash Page due to his role in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and newly announced solo film, and X-Men foe/friend Juggernaut is a favorite of mine from way back. From the looks of the recently released Deadpool promo video and Deadpool/Juggernaut screenshots, it looks like the pair have carved out a nice niche for themselves in the hearts of "Fusion" developers Vicarious Visions, too.

For all of the new video, screenshots and details about Deadpool and Juggernaut in "Ultimate Alliance 2," head over to Multiplayer.MTV.com.

Brandon RouthThings are about to get hectic for Scott Mednick. The former "Superman Returns" and "300" executive producer recently announced his involvement in the upcoming "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" live-action movie and says he'll soon be busy producing another major franchise as well. However, one thing Mednick says he won't be doing anytime soon is taking another crack at rebooting the Superman movie franchise. Of course, that doesn't mean he doesn't have an idea or two about who should.

"Bryan Singer is, as we all know from 'X-Men' to 'Superman' to 'House' on television, a genius," Mednick told MTV News. "And if anybody can bring [Superman] again to the screen, it’s going to be that team." Read More...

Barack Obama ComicsIt's no secret that putting U.S. President Barack Obama on the cover of your comic these days is like printing money -- no matter how connected the cameo or what the issue contains, it's going to sell like crazy. So, while comics featuring anyone associated with the president and the 2008 campaign remain hot sellers, it seemed only natural that one particular part of the Obama family receive his own comic. (And to be honest, I'm surprised it took this long.)

"Puppy Power: Bo Obama" hits shelves in September from Bluewater Productions, and promises an "insider's look at the White House" courtesy of the Obamas' new dog, Bo. Written by Paul J. Salamoff with art by Emmy Award winning Disney and Warner Brothers artist Keith Tucker, the comic will be aimed at young readers. Read More...

Stan LeeStan Lee might have changed the face of comic books with his many Marvel superhero creations such as Spider-Man and the X-Men, but even in his twilight years, the legendary creator continues to have some tricks up his sleeve.

An all-new genre character of Lee's creation is coming to the big screen by way of a partnership between Disney and Lee's POW Entertainment, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The project will be based on "Nick Ratchet," a high-concept detective story based on an idea of Lee's with Richard LaGravenese attached to direct. Read More...

Superman Vs. TerminatorThe original "Terminator" movie instantly became a classic. Years later, "Terminator: Salvation" is the fourth movie in the franchise -- but before it even went into production there had already been dozens of stories from the "Terminator" universe told in comics and novels.

From crossovers with robots, aliens and superheroes to standalone tales that advanced the "Terminator" mythology, here are some interesting (and in some cases, bizarre) stories you might want to check out as a new robot apocalypse kicks off in theaters. Read More...

Bradley Cooper“Wedding Crashers” scene-stealer Bradley Cooper is the most visible actor in “The Hangover,” a June 5 comedy with tremendous advance buzz. Having seen the flick, I definitely agree that he seems likely to break out with the funny film about four friends who wake up after a wild night to find a trashed hotel room cluing them into the insanity of the previous evening.

The film takes place in Las Vegas, and I recently traveled to the city of sin to talk to the 34-year-old actor. This seemed only appropriate, since he’s either completely clueless about reports that he might soon play The Green Lantern, or he has one hell of a poker face. Read More...

Hayden ChristensenYesterday afternoon, word hit the wire that "Star Wars" prequel star Hayden Christensen had signed on for a live-action film based on the "Mandrake the Magician" comic strip created by Lee Falk. After speaking with a representative of Christensen, however, MTV News has been told that he is not attached to the "Mandrake" movie.

The initial announcement had claimed that Christensen and "Gladiator" actor Djimon Hounsou would have lead roles in a movie about the “underground magician and escapologist” who is approached by the CIA for a special operation. In a conversation with MTV News, Christensen's representative denied the report, saying that the actor will not be starring in the film.

Little else is known about the "Mandrake" movie, which is currently scheduled for release in 2010. Movie site IMDB still lists the original actor announced for the lead role, Jonathan Rhys Meyers.

Happy about the news? Disappointed? What do you think about a "Mandrake" movie?

WARNING: This has nothing to do with comics. I just want to let readers know that Will Ferrell is trying to steal my identity -- so if I suddenly disappear, you should contact the appropriate authorities.

When it was first announced that Will Ferrell would play a character named "Rick Marshall" in the "Land of the Lost" movie, I tried to take this co-opting of my name in stride. After all, the character had been around since 1974, when the original "Land of the Lost" television series premiered, so that Rick Marshall existed a year or two before I did. If anything, I should probably be more annoyed with the other famous Rick Marshall -- the one who's the leading suspect in the Zodiac killings. (Try explaining that one when your girlfriend's parents look up your name on the 'Net.)

But the following outtake from MTV's upcoming "Behind the Screen" special (airing Sunday at 11 PM) has me thinking Ferrell is gunning for yours truly in his campaign to be the #1 Rick Marshall. Check it out:

So, Will Ferrell likes to make fun of iguanas and people who keep them as pets, does he? That's a funny coincidence, because I had a pet iguana for years before heading off to college. Yes, what a strange little coincidence indeed, Mr. Ferrell. Consider your message... received. Read More...
