Oscar JaenadaThe stars are aligning for "The Losers," the big screen adaptation of the DC Comics/Vertigo maxiseries. Most of the cast has been filled out, but there's one character that's conspicuously without an actor -- that of Cougar, the black ops team's quiet but deadly expert marksman.

If we're to believe an exclusive report from Black Film, then that role has now been cast, with Spanish actor Oscar Jaenada playing the cowboyish Cougar. The young actor is largely unknown to American audiences, though he's played opposite Benicio Del Toro in Steven Soderbergh's recent two-part "Che" biopic. Read More...

Labella in 'Green Lantern: First Flight'It's been well publicized that Chris Meloni, Victor Garber, Tricia Helfer and Michael Madsen would headline "Green Lantern: First Flight" as Hal Jordan, Sinestro, Boodika and Kilowog, respectively. But there's another geek-friendly actress involved that you may not know about: Juliet Landau.

Landau is best known for playing Drusilla in Joss Whedon's "Buffy the Vampire" and "Angel" television series, though she'll soon appear in the animated "Green Lantern" flick as the voice of Labella. Landau says that her performance was almost second nature and that she instinctively knew exactly how the character would sound. Read More...

In a story that has become comic book movie legend, Kevin Smith was hired in the late ‘90s to write the script for a “Superman” reboot. You can hear Smith himself recount his hilarious misadventure with the Man of Steel around the 'Net, but the bottom line is that he got booted off the project. Years later, he penned a draft of “The Green Hornet” that never took off.

As always here at Splash Page HQ, we just can’t help wondering what might have been. So, when the director stopped by the office recently, we were curious to know whether Smith would ever undertake a comic book adaptation again.

“I have no interest in making those movies,” Smith told MTV News. “They look very tedious to make. It takes a talent that I just do not have. But I love to kick back and watch them.” Read More...

Yancy Butler in 'Witchblade'Years ago the original Witchblade, Sarah Pezzini, made the transition from mystical (and half-naked) armored warrior to civilian mom. Now, it seems, acting is imitating comics with the former star of TNT's "Witchblade" television series Yancy Butler taking on a more matronly role in the movie adaptation of Mark Millar and John Romita Jr.'s "Kick-Ass."

In an interview with Comics Continuum, Butler discussed her roughly week-and-a-half trip to London in November during which time she filmed her scenes and took in the large scale production and its special effects. Read More...

Robert Downey Jr.When Robert Downey Jr. was first cast as multi-billionaire military industrialist Tony Stark in "Iron Man," some critics wondered if the aging actor had the proper physique to carry a big-budget action flick on his shoulders. If the first film's staggering box office intake wasn't enough to turn those skeptics, then perhaps Downey's work in the sequel will do the trick.

SuperHeroHype has a photo gallery of Downey training with a stuntman for a hand-to-hand combat sequence in "Iron Man 2." Whether or not the actor was preparing to film a scene later that day in the Jon Favreau-directed picture is unclear, but a certain bruise mark on his face indicates that shooting would be getting underway soon. Sam RaimiWith “Drag Me to Hell” rocking the socks off preview audiences and likely on its way to becoming one of the summer’s sleeper hits, director Sam Raimi can finally shift his focus back to the blockbuster franchise that made him a household name. And at the end of June, he’ll be ready to do exactly that with a newly-printed copy of Hollywood’s hottest screenplay.

“Right now, David Lindsay-Abaire, a New York playwright, is working on the screenplay,” Raimi said of the eagerly-anticipated “Spider-Man 4” script that will lay the blueprint for his film, due in theaters May 6, 2011. “He says that he’ll be done in about four weeks with his first draft. So that’s where I am right now. And I’m just about to hire a production skeleton.” Read More...

President ObamaSuper-powered civil rights activists can breathe a sigh of relief. According to faux news site The Onion, U.S. President Barack Obama has vetoed the Mutant Registration Act.

The bill, which The Onion reports to have made its way through the Senate earlier this week, would have required all "Mutant Americans" to register their identities and powers with a specially created federal agency. It's unclear whether or not the House Un-American Activities Committee, which forced the Justice Society of America to disband, was involved in creating the bill. Read More...
