Hayden ChristensenIt turns out that Sci Fi Network's revamp of "The Phantom" isn't the only classic Lee Falk comic currently bouncing around a production workshop. Anakin Skywalker himself, Hayden Christensen, has now been announced as the lead in Mimi Leder's "Mandrake," based on Falk's slightly less famous strip "Mandrake the Magician."

[UPDATE: A representative of Christensen has told MTV News that the actor is not involved with the "Mandrake" movie.]

The movie, co-starring Djimon Hounsou, will follow Christensen's character, an "underground magician and escapologist" who is approached by the CIA to do some work after "a daring escape from an SUV that has been dropped out of an plane at the Burning Man Festival," according to SuperHeroHype.com. Hounsou will presumably be taking on the role of Mandrake's assistant, Lothar. Read More...

It's not exactly comics-related, but this is pretty cool all the same: Here's a new clip from "Terminator: Salvation" that debuted this week on MTV Movies Blog. It features Sam Worthington and Anton Yelchin, a pair of actors who were both rumored to be in the running for the role of Hal Jordan in the live-action "Green Lantern" movie (so I guess it is comics-related after all), playing Marcus Wright and Kyle Reese. (Both actors have since denied any involvement with the role.)

In the clip, Yelchin utters the phrase Michael Biehn popularized in the first "Terminator" film: "Come with me if you want to live." And once you see what's stalking them, you'll see why.

"Terminator: Salvation" hits theaters Thursday, May 21. You can watch four more clips from the film over at MoviesBlog.MTV.com.

What do you think of the clip? Still think either of these guys would make a good Hal Jordan?

Ramona Flowers in 'Scot Pilgrim'Last week, we got a peek at the look "Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World" director Edgar Wright is going for with The Clash At Demonhead, the band that includes both an evil ex-boyfriend of Ramona Flowers that Scott will battle, and the hero's own evil ex, Natalie V. "Envy" Adams. Now, it looks like Wright could actually be filming (or at least revealing production photos) in chronological order with the original Bryan Lee O'Malley series, as he just posted a photo from a scene at the finale of Scott and Ramona's encounter with the band.

The photo offers a glimpse of Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Ramona Flowers, who "Scott Pilgrim" readers will identify by her trademark "subspace suitcase" and the massive "+2 Against Girls" hammer she pulls from it to fight Envy. The brawl takes place in Volume 3 of O'Malley's "Scott Pilgrim" series, and I've posted both Wright's photo and a page from the book after the jump for the sake of comparison. Read More...

Chris HemsworthNews on the "Thor" casting front has been moving at lightning speed with reports that Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston would be playing Thor and Loki, respectively. Yet despite the fact that these casting decisions seemed likely, they were not set in stone with an official announcement from Marvel Studios -- until today.

In a press release issued earlier today, Marvel confirmed that Tom Hiddleston will indeed be playing Loki in the Kenneth Branagh-directed "Thor." The actor, who previously worked with Branagh on stage in Chekov's "Ivanov" and in the BBC miniseries "Wallander," was initially rumored for the leading role, but wound up cast as the titular Thunder God's mischievous sibling.

So, Loki is officially locked in -- and that's the good news. But what's the deal with Hemsworth as Thor? Has something fallen apart for him since the initial story? Like his "Star Trek" character George Kirk, could Hemsworth only be holding the captain's chair for a few minutes? Read More...

'Dr. McNinja'There’s been no shortage of comics jumping to the screen lately, but there are still a lot of great stories out there flying below Hollywood’s radar. In this recurring "Adapt This" feature, we’ll take a look at comics that merit attention from filmmakers — and offer some thoughts on why (and how) they should be brought to the screen.

THE STORY: "The Adventures of Dr. McNinja" by Chris Hastings

WHAT IT’S ABOUT: Hastings' long-running webcomic, which is also available in print collections, follows the exploits of Dr. McNinja -- a doctor who also happens to be a ninja. Faced with the contradicting responsibilities of healing and killing, McNinja (his first name is never actually given) fights crime and cures the sick alongside his mustachioed 12-year-old sidekick Gordito Delgado, his raptor Yoshi, his assistant Judy (a gorilla) and a clone of Benjamin Franklin.

Along with settling the occasional familial disagreement with the McNinja clan (Dan, Mitzi and Sean McNinja), he battles pirates, ghost wizards and strange afflictions like Paul Bunyan's Disease, which turns people into giant lumberjacks. Oh, and he idolizes Batman, too. Read More...

Human TargetFinally, after several months of hearing virtually nothing, the "Human Target" media machine is rolling full-steam ahead. The Mark Valley-starring pilot has officially been taken to television series, complete with a premiere date and even visual evidence of the leading actor -- and the news doesn't stop there.

There is now a lengthy trailer for "Human Target" that has debuted online, showing not only Mark Valley as Christopher Chance, but a plethora of other actors including Jackie Earle Haley and Chi McBride. The three-minute trailer offers an excellent glimpse into the action, acting and tone that "Human Target" is expected to have when it debuts in January of next year. (Check out the full trailer after the jump.) Read More...

'Iron Man 2' Whiplash Concept Sketch? While the first glimpses of Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury have already hit the 'Net, there haven't been any sightings of "Iron Man 2" baddie Mickey Rourke online to speak of yet.

This absence of imagery is exactly what makes this anonymously sourced tidbit on Latino Review so interesting. The site has posted an image of what's reportedly a concept illustration of Rourke's villainous persona, Whiplash, from the Jon Favreau-directed superhero sequel. Read More...

CoralineNeil Gaiman's works are no stranger to multiple mediums. With his stories onscreen ("Stardust," "MirrorMask") as well as onstage ("Mr. Punch," "The Wolves In the Walls") it only seems natural that "Coraline," the author's award-winning children's book (as well as graphic novel, 3D animated film and video game) has been joined by a musical incarnation.

Playing now through June 20 at MCC's Lucille Lortel Theatre, the musical features lyrics and music by Stephin Merritt ("The Magnetic Fields"), with a book by David Greenspan. Leigh Silverman is directing and Jayne Houdyshell ("Wicked") stars as the reality-hopping Coraline. Read More...

Welcome to HoxfordBack in March, we brought you the news that writer/artist Ben Templesmith’s horror tale “Welcome to Hoxford” was picked up for big-screen adaptation by the production company of writer/director Chris Columbus. Since there haven't been any official updates regarding the project thus far, I checked in with Templesmith to get his take on how a "Hoxford" movie would look, and who he envisions playing some of the lead roles.

"Well if it were me -- and let's be clear it's definitely not up to me -- you'd need someone who can really play with visuals and would be willing to use a lot less CGI and a lot more prosthetics/puppetry," said Templesmith of the type of director he'd like to see on the film. Read More...

'Razor'The same production company that first brought director Alex Proyas' "The Crow" to theaters and currently wants to revamp the franchise announced that it has a new comic book property in its stable. Jeff Most Prods. has joined with Arclight Films to produce a live-action adaption of Everette Hartsoe's comic book series "Razor," featuring a female vigilante from the makers of Carmen Electra's "Vampire Embrace" comics.

The "Razor" adaptation will begin filming in Australia in 2010 to the tune of a $15 million budget, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
