The Pixies track that made its mark on film in David Fincher's "Fight Club" is back on HBO this week in a pair of promotions for "The Dark Knight."
Christian Bale's Batman and Heath Ledger's Joker make their debut together on the cable channel this Friday, June 13, and they're doing it to the tune of "Where Is My Mind?" Brad Pitt and Edward Norton demolished buildings to it, and now the Joker appears to be doing the same for the two spots.
Both make pretty well edited-together mash-up videos for fans of Batman, the band, or the movie. Featuring some of the now-classic one-liners from Ledger, including "Let's put a smile on that face" and "I'm a man of my word," as well as his haunting laughter, they're fitting tributes to one of the best marriages yet between comic books and film.
The shots of the burned out buildings and The Joker's hospital demolition scene are particularly effective with the music for anyone who has heard in the background during Tyler Durden's anarchist attack on civilization in "Fight Club." It's also a great match for an in intensely cerebral film like "Dark Knight" where the hero's sanity is constantly being picked apart as much as the villain's.
They're also a good reminder that if you liked "Dark Knight," haven't seen it for a while, and you happen to have HBO, there's no time like the present to give it another screening.
